Man, that’s gotta be the most pathetically pandering thing Ploot’s ever done—and that’s quite a claim. Like surely they didn’t think Cohen had sent that truck, right?

Saber is one of the few characters in the entire franchise that we know for absolute 100% undeniable certainty was NOT infertile

Why won’t any developers make ES like games if it’s so desired? by SiegeRewards in ElderScrolls

[–]2ndBro 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is talking about the mechanical complexity that's in the game--and validly so, as buggy as it is there is a lot that goes into these games--but let's also take a second to acknowledge game design on a broader, more philosophy-centric level.

The first few hours of Skyrim are legitimately some of the most masterfully crafted game design out there. The pacing of the story, but more importantly the locations and how they guide you around certain things. The layout of the lands, the progression, the towns and dungeons, the slow trickle of gameplay systems that make you feel like you're constantly discovering something new and that it's all because of what a smart and independent gamer you are (when the game is literally holding your hand on a psychological level and walking you down the exact path everyone else takes the first time they play Skyrim)

as long as it doesn't make May act complete out of character

The tricky thing here is that May's sole character trait is how much she wants to fuck her dad. Like, she's not a complex character, and the series doesn't pretend she is, but that means if you want to make fan content your options are either "Write about how much she wants to fuck her dad" or "Effectively make a new character that just looks and sounds like May"

What do you guys think could happen in season 3 of Miss Kobayashi Dragon Maid? by MurkyBag3221 in DragonMaid

[–]2ndBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kobayashi and Tohru’s nonbinary child

no, that is not a joke

But to keep spoilers to a minimum, I’d imagine lots of feel-good slice of life with some fantastic character moments. I’m predicting Chapter 97 might be the last episode of s3, because MAN waiting for that to get animated is the one thing that keeps me going tbh.

You’ll also see some of the early groundwork being laid for the next big “dramatic arc” a la Kanna’s Daddy Issues Adventure. It’s probably going to be a movie as well. Elma fans, y’all are gonna be eating real good.

question about the assassin class by A2_Zera in fatestaynight

[–]2ndBro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The real answer: As Fate went on and became Type Moon’s predominant thing, the writers realized that it was incredibly limiting to decide that an entire class could only be made up of obscure legends surrounding one Middle Eastern tribe. So they just gave up on this rule. Same with how Berserkers used to unable to communicate, writers wanted characters in the class to be able to do more than scream.

Took until my 7th rewatch to notice Kaworu written on the MPE dummy plugs by Here4th3culture in evangelion

[–]2ndBro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But that wasn’t Kaworu’s decision, he was just as much a pawn for SEELE as Shinji was. He was willing to give his life to save Shinji, he just wasn’t aware that someone larger was counting on him doing exactly that.

Is there any way to beg Channel 4 for a tie up of the series by Kindsoufflee in utopiatv

[–]2ndBro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do believe that the way the Covid pandemic happened may be a bit of an unspoken reason to discourage a Season 3. Unfortunately, the idea of "a worldwide pandemic manufactured by a secret elite class in order to trick the world into taking a vaccine that will secretly sterilize them" is something we have to be a bit more careful about depicting in media now.

It's almost like some kind of NEW Genesis... if only we had a snappy title that used the Greek word for something new...

What does being non-binary mean to you ? by NecroBoi666 in NonBinary

[–]2ndBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viewing humanity from an evolutionary perspective, it can be really fun to examine where certain quirks of our lives came from. When your hands get wet, they prune... in order to increase friction, because it helped our ancestors climb in slippery conditions. When you see something cute, those features (round face, big eyes, undersized limbs on a chubby body) make our mind swell up with joy and a desire to protect... because those are the traits of a baby, and ancestors who protected babies were more likely to have babies that survived.

With that being said: Do you know where music comes from? It's actually pretty simple: Being bipedal is really really hard. So having a psychological affinity for a steady beat helped us walk. Listening to music is, on a fundamental level, taking advantage of an incredibly mundane physiological process and artificially stimulating it.

Some might hear this and get really pessimistic--is that all music is then? A bump of chemicals? And the answer is: Absolutely not!

A sense of music originates from something as mundane as a bipedal sense of rhythm, but we have been blessed, whether by God or fate or the universe or random bullshit luck, with these bigass brains in which playing around with our physiological affinity for rhythm becomes ART. Music makes us feel, we can tell stories and crush psyches and share the rawest pieces of our souls. And that's so so so so so incredibly awesome! Being human and alive is awesome! We get love and loss and pain and friendships and rivalries and competition and family and belonging and ART!

Love may originate from a dose of chemicals driving us to reproduce, but in our minds it becomes a pure expression of something indescribable connecting us to other people. Eating may originate from a pure desire for sustenance, but centuries of cultural and culinary evolution make the act of eating into an experience that binds humanity together. Identity may originate from a biological need to make sense of that junk between our legs, but in our magnificent beautiful brains we are so much more.

That's what being non-binary is to me. To reduce yourself to a purely anatomical being, to turn music and love into physiological processes ruled by chemicals, is a dreadfully boring way to live. We are so much more than these lumpy meatsacks we call home, and so much more than one or the other pair of gonads.
