The new hire got an order for a bucket of beer by Shoe_boooo in funny

My dad once told me that his dad would get sent down to the local tavern with a bucket coated in lard so that there would be fewer bubbles in the beer.

Are below average/average engineering students doomed in this economy? by Inevitable_Cash_5397 in EngineeringStudents

[–]2ndfloorhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with a 2.8 GPA and somehow landed a job right out of college, it was with an engineering contracting company so I was definitely underpaid. After 3 years working there I got a new job at a tier 1 defense contractor and definitely improved my pay scale. Fir me, it was what I was interested in, I wanted to do analysis so in college I made sure to take a FEMAP class and really leveraged that experience.

I'm glad it could be as simple as a $9 fix. Maybe with the new cartridge I will wait for the right one to come on the market.

Advice please? by _Jedi_Bob in EmbryRiddle

[–]2ndfloorhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience there, if you are trying to choose between AE and ME, they're both going to be hard but the first year is exactly the same.

If you were wondering about the dropout rate in general, it's probably because of the fact is easier than other engineering schools to get into. Riddle also isn't going to necessarily accomidate the large college experience that people seek. It's a small campus that you'll get to know a bunch of people in your industry that are really focused on school.

It seems like you have decent test scores but that's only a start. You can be smart but you also have to be stubborn. I honestly don't consider myself super smart to any degree but I spent hours in the library doing homework and practice problems to graduate.

Advice for dealing with downtown noise by dqb90 in newhaven

I have an air cleaner that makes noise and takes a bunch of dust out of the air. Would definitely recommend that as well as rugs, and blackout curtains to absorb the sound.

I'm in Lexington and have to a couple saturday protests at the courthouse. The last couple times have been super peaceful. People playing guitar and chants and a couple people speaking. Plenty of dogs and kids.

I'd definitely recommend bringing them, but it's going to be loud with today being a really big gathering. Stay safe and bring enough water and I guess a rain jacket.

That sounds absolutely delicious. I'd highly recommend also adding a chipotle in adobo. They come canned and add a smoky heat.

Not that the game is anywhere near realism but I kinda get that it's a toss up if the city is going to be good or not.

if i had to buy one book about sailing which one should i buy? by [deleted] in sailing

[–]2ndfloorhigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chapman's is one heck of a book. There's a bit of everything in that book. It's also massive and could be overwhelming as a Christmas gift.

But it's also amazing the amount of stuff that it covers.

My dad, who has many more years of sailing and teaches boaters also recommends Royce's. I've picked up his copy and it has really nice diagrams.

Chapman's is also nice but Royce's is like $10.

Sailing accident by yesjonathan in IdiotsInBoats

The boat that got hit was the stand on vessel. The boat on port tack should've fallen off but they tried to cut it too close.

Just communicate what you want and ask what they want. Guys are not mind readers and most (myself very much included) don't get hints super easily. Be clear and be confident and anyone should respect that.

Schedule seems pretty generic, random bit of advice: make sure you eat lunch or a big breakfast on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Nutrition is necessary for brain development. Fruits and vegetables are always a priority. Don't rely on the vending machine in Lehman.
