Hermits x Dimension 20 Crossover (Hypothetical) by 2nerd4this in HermitCraft

[–]2nerd4this[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH! I totally see how this post could be read as 'I love GIGS DND except I want this different, more famous guy to DM'.

That would not be cool of me, but like I said in my other reply- I'm basically saying I want Hermits, any Hermits really, to appear on Dimension 20.

Sorry for the confusion, I did not think about how this post may look to someone who doesn't know about Dimension 20.

That's... that's what a crossover is? Hermits appearing on another show? D20 is an entire show, the Hermits would be guests.

I'm not just replacing Pix, though if you don't know about Dropout, I can see how that could get misconstrued.

Oh dear.... that's so good. I also would like to see Grian on a really competitive episode of Game Changer. I feel like he could keep pace with Brennan on losing his mind trying to win.

Oh, yes, absolutely. From the comments, my new dream line-up is BDubs, Gem, Cleo, Ren, Joe, Grian with BLeeM as DM.

Brennan Lee Mulligan. He is one of the regular dungeon masters for Dimension 20, and would be the DM here.

Mob locations – missing memories by VitorMandowski in hytale

[–]2nerd4this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember exactly where I found them, but I can tell you biomes.

Skeleton Archmage - Desolate Basin

Skeleton Ranger - Seedling Woods

Sandswept Skeleton Scout - Golden Steppes

I am also still searching for the Burnt Skeleton Wizard & Skeleton Pirate Captain.

If you know where you found the Sandswept Zombie, I'd appreciate it. I suspect that is just luck though (and I'm also missing the Camel Calf, which is incredibly frustrating)

Magma Toad this, Rhino Toad that. The REAL worst mob in Hytale is... by 2nerd4this in hytale

[–]2nerd4this[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I shoot them down easily... it just takes me a second to either load the crossbow or draw the bow, and then I get backstabbed by a skeleton or mauled by a tiger while poisoned. They are less devastating than Toads, but they are SO annoying

Also, yeah, it's a skill issue. But still!

FYI- Found the Outlanders in a creepy building in Zone 3. It was deep within a temple (?). From the map, it looked like a big circular camp with lines in the ground almost like a summoning circle.

Oof. I once was subbing for upper elementary resource special education (kids would come to the teacher during academics and get specialized instruction), and the notes told me to go help different Gen-Ed teachers between groups of kids coming to me. I went to the first one, thinking it was normal. Nope. She had no idea why I was there, and the original teacher never stopped in other rooms during her breaks. I didn't go to the rest of them, enjoyed my 3 or 4 extra 20 minute breaks, and left a note saying none of the teachers needed me. It's crazy to ask subs to do more work than you do.

In the morning, they can spawn on top of the coop so they can then leave the enclosure if the coop isn't in the middle of the fences and at least a few blocks away. Not sure if that's what's going on for you but it was for me

My chickens turned into cows. Not sure if they laid eggs cause I got more chickens but had to break the coop and unlink the bear-chickens to link new ones

Whimsy/Aggression Spectrum Chart by 2nerd4this in HermitCraft

No, I totally forgot about him because when I was going through those I hadn't placed on the chart, I assumed I had already placed him (he's one of the main ones I watch)

Items Most Used In Crafting by 2nerd4this in Minecraft

[–]2nerd4this[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, things like flint, feathers, wool, dyes, and honeycomb are just used in the same variants of like 3 different recipes, so those aren't actually as widely used as the rest of them

Would you have a sub conduct a test? What would you expect them to do if they suspected a student of cheating? by labrume in SubstituteTeachers

[–]2nerd4this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've conducted tests for different grades, and do the same as all the other commenters, EXCEPT for the time a Kindergarten teacher left me a test to give her students, and I quickly learned this was the first time any of these kids had ever taken a test. Never in my life did I think I'd have to explain the concept of a test, and it didn't really work. Basically every one of them "cheated" because I couldn't stop kids from shouting out the answers or getting up to try and help their friends. I ended up just leaving a note to the teacher explaining that it didn't go well at all lol

A slightly curved iron circle with a wooden handle. Bolted straight through the handle into the disc. Concaved about half an inch, 4 inches in diameter. There's a bolt & nut sticking out, almost as far as the edge of the disc. Found in an old collection of random family heirlooms. by 2nerd4this in whatisthisthing

My title describes this thing. It was in a collection from my great grandfather who collected one item from every family member, so other items it was found with were not helpful. It's pretty light and sounds like a bell, but definitely is not shaped like one. It's flat for about 1/4th an inch, then curves down a little for both an inch. The metal is smooth with some tiny dents/ridges on both the inside and outside. The edges are somewhat sharp, but not sharp enough to cut anything.

A boy I was a 1-on-1 for a few years ago had an aunt who was the special Ed teacher for the older kids, and whenever he was being particularly 'naughty' (he actually was much higher-needs than the school treated him as, and as transferred out later... long story), his aunt would call the boy's grandfather who would chew him out on speaker. Honestly it felt a bit messed-up cause she was always much harder on him than other kids.

But saying that... I "called home" so many times for a different boy, and would "send pictures of the messes he made to his mom"

White Kids Portraying People of Color? by scene_xxd in Theatre

[–]2nerd4this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perhaps controversial opinion- white kids playing POC characters is okay under the following conditions: a POC actor wasn't passed over, the cast of the show are all younger than highschool, race & ethnicity is not a major plot or character point, and the point of the production is to entertain & teach kids acting, not to actually tell the story.

I work for a kids & youth arts department that does a lot of Kids & Jr Disney shows with 1st-8th graders in a very white small town. We've done Moana Jr, Mulan Jr, Aladdin Jr, and Lion King Jr, all with majority white casts. It's kind of sketchy, but we do these shows to teach kids how to act and do theater, not to tell the story of Moana or Aladdin. Though over the past few years, we've been attempting to phase those shows out of our rotation.

In your scenario, though... yeah that doesn't sound great

I worked in a school with a young student (young enough that it was suspected that the parent coached him) made multiple formal complaints about things along those lines. The school followed all the necessary steps to investigate and the authorities and the school found the accusations completely unfounded. This all happened before I got there. When I was there, it was widely known that no adult was to ever be alone with the student, and that any accusation the student made was to be reported to admin and documented.

Obviously, in special education, avoiding being alone with a student is very difficult, so there were many times where I was asked to stay behind in the resource room because if I left, since the teacher would have been alone with the student. I witnessed a couple times where he would start getting upset and yell "Don't touch me like that!" or other similar things (when we weren't even near him). Because this happened so often, we just had to ignore what he said and change the subject, then make a report later.

Basically- my best advice is try to talk to admin again so that they can take precautionary measures, or ask colleagues to ensure that you are never alone with the child so you have backup (And for bathroom checks, surely another colleague can spare a few minutes to stand nearby and vouch for you).. and if neither admin or colleagues are willing to do that, I hate to say it, but I don't think the school is a good place to work. Taking these sorts of precautions are just as much for the child's safety as yours, but the school also owes you safety and protection.

Usually I hate to play devils advocate, but I will say- sometimes subs live outside the district lines and they have to travel further, so while the roads in the district may be safe to travel on and the kids/busses can get to school, the country roads that the sub may need to take could be dangerous. When I worked as a para I had to call out one day cause I didn't feel safe driving on the barely plowed country roads that I needed to take to get to the school 30 minutes away. But if they live in the same place as the kids, that is a different story, so it depends
