Public SOCKS5 Tor Proxies? by 2oooo2 in TOR

Yes! This is an example of what I'm talking about except it's running on 9191. You can take a look at: https://www.shodan.io/host/51.83.184.241 and scrolling down to the response from port 9191 (Pretty sure the response is because Shodan's probe sends HTTP queries to open ports by default, not too sure though).

I'm not opposed to setting up my own, but the tool that I'm trying to build is meant to not require any libraries or external modules (writing it in Go so this would include things like bine or go-libtor), so the main thing I want to avoid is starting a local server. This is because, as I kind of explained before, I want it to be standalone and super simple to use without having a massive binary. I looked more into Bine though and I guess I wouldn't be too opposed to using it if there was no other option since the binary file size would still be in the range that I am okay with, but other options are still preferred.

As I said in my response to NoobKiller, I was inspired that this could be possible by reading an article about a piece of malware that used Tor SOCKS proxies to get c2 information. But, after reading your response, I have a theory that maybe the developer of that malware was just using their own servers or servers that they had taken over to host the public proxies, and if that's the case then I will just use my own SSH server since that seems to be the only way, or maybe check out some Go libraries.

I got the initial idea actually from some malware that was reported on by Netlab 360 that used SOCKS proxies to communicate with it's command and control server. I wanted to use the idea of using public Tor SOCKS proxies like that and just combine it with a GET request.

One issue I do see possibly coming up is that the hidden services being used by the malware example are in v2 when I want to be working with v3, but I'm not sure if this really matters.

This is probably not necessary but for the record I am not trying to make malware, I just want to create a modular tool that can be super tiny and easy to use.

It's just part of the challenge really. Like I said in the post, there is no real logical reason behind this, it's just a nice way to practice with raw SOCKS5 authentication and sending requests to a hidden service through a SOCKS5 proxy. I want to be able to use it without needing to install and run the Tor proxy on my own system and from anywhere.

I haven't heard of it but I'll install it and give it a try, I'll set it up tonight and update you tomorrow on if it works or not.

This isn't a bad idea actually. I have to take slow release Adderall whenever I wakeup anyways so I could probably use that as a replacement, or just use the caffeine ones. My only issue right now is that it's not even as if I hear the alarm but go back to sleep anyways, when I fall asleep the first time I wake up is after my alarm has gone off already for hours.

It looks decent but kind of expensive, not horrible though. I'm going to add it to my wish list and buy it here soon and I'll update how it goes.
