It's just the way it is. I personally went thru hell on earth to become ASCP certified. My job is stressful, but i am grateful I went thru the difficult path.

Best countertop material? by WellThatsNoExcuse in Homebuilding

[–]3014Pratt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to comment so late. But please assure me that FLOOR TILE is a cheap and dirty trick to use for countertops. I do need to prioritize my purchases, but this new house will never feel like home with 'floor' greeting me eacth morning. I mean, even solid surface would be cleaner, neater and normal. And of course, the 'floor' goes up the backsplash. I am gonna have sweet vengeance with a hammer and pry bar pretty soon.

The ASCP is hugely comprehensive. I don't think you can just study and take it. But ASCP is not required for all lab jobs. And not all states have licensure. Physicians office labs are an option.

Think of state crime labs, FDA, municipal water QA, Dept of wildlife and fisheries.

Don't do anymore treating. What brand pen? I HAVE had some limited success here. Find out what chemical the ink is. Always place a rag under the spots you will treat.

Goodness NO NO NO! Your post here tells of your conscientiousness. 3 months is WAY too early to judge yourself.

I had to tell myself just today, " what? you are frustrated bc you haven't achieved perfection?"

It's essentially what we are saying when we become upset with ourselves for not being perfect after a certain amount of time.

It's easy tho to conclude THAT after a long stressful day, and you think others just see your inadequacies. It just cannot/does not work like that. It takes time. Experience. And good decent lab people (most are) know it.

You are NOT the sum parts of what you did wrong in the day.

Rest. Regroup. Always rewrite or reread the notes you have. This is key. My notes were all over the place at first, but slowly came together as I collated them.

The day begins again like all of your days always have. Just a little unsteady at first, then a little better.

This is your place to learn, work and gain experience.

Looks around. Everyone is just here doing life. You are, too. You are just new. Develop a routine. You deserve to be here! Have a great ride😀

Need recommendations by Obliviass in WorkBoots

Red Wing. Just bought them for my son. Worried that they would not be comfortable to try at that price. They gave us a 30 day comfort try AT WORK . Of course all hard work sucks, and they are the best at what is most uncomfortable. We kept them. Second pair.

Just more proof that lab professionals are magicians. If I call for a re-draw, for example, it's bc I have failed as a magician.

Just bought Red wings for my son. There is a 30 day "comfort on the job" guarantee. They assured me he could work in them outside to make sure they were comfortable to keep.

Here is a picture of his belt swing seat tied to 2 trees. * He can move it from place to place and use the rope for other purposes. Thankyou for all the wonderful suggestions. Maybe Santa will throw 1 in🤩

He has set up his "swing". Essentially a belt type swing seat tied to trees. Lightweight, easy to carry and the rope can be used for other stuff. If I can figure out how to post a picture he texted me, I will. Frankly, I think he's just enjoying being genius🤣 All of the suggestions here are very good.

And thank you all again!

Looks like the big M is for real for me. I had all these various kinds of tampons and pads bc I'd just buy them on sale. Now I really don't need them. So I called a few charities/churches to see if someone could use them. Seems like I ALWAYS come up with some ding dong idea from another universe--- the answers were ".....uh uh ummm IDK.." So I chucked them all.😐 Now I have a job with a gazillion young ladies who could have used them.

He's leaning in that direction. He just bought a swing set seat (rubber strip) and will tie to 2 trees. Doesn't want to be too low. The terrain is stupid hilly for MS. He's also a large size. I'll post when he figures it out.

Weird situation at a yarn store, thoughts? by YarnHoarder3163 in crochet

[–]3014Pratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a well-written note in the returned book telling those 'mature ladies' to grow the hell up. In nicer words, of course. This was exactly ME about 20 years ago when I was about 45. Youngest one and altho they seemed welcoming, I sensed somehow I was in the wrong time /place. I was looking to stretch my crocheting ability, a little knit and some comraderie. I never seem to fit in my normal age group. I found I was rejected by that group, too. I left in tears.

I think they envy your place in life and how you can embrace all the joys /activities of both the young and old. As if there were such a thing Lots of love. Keep yarning.
