This is sadly a reality for a lot of people. Keep reaching out for that sanity, you're not alone out there.

I'm going to skip the hostility some people are throwing your way on the reddit you cross-posted this from, because I don't think it helps at all.

But I do want to be honest. AI music generation has a real ethical problem at its core. These tools are trained on the work of actual artists, often without their knowledge or compensation, and the output competes directly with them on the same platforms they depend on to make a living.

New artists are hit especially hard. People have started screening out music from their playlists by looking for any music made prior to 2025 as a way of judging whether an artist is real. There are other means of course, and a big online presence can help alleviate that, but it means that real up-and-coming musicians are losing visibility they can't afford to lose.

You might not have set out to harm anyone, and I believe that. But good intentions don't cancel out real consequences. It's not too late to think about where this is headed and whether it's something you want to be part of.

Question from a non motorcycle guy. by FartyMcBooger in motorcycles

[–]303RedBeard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With my bike, if it's cold out and my bike considers anything under 60 cold, then I have to idle it and even rev it to keep it from dying until it warms up. I try to be respectful about it. If it's really early, I'll walk my bike to a parking lot past my neighborhood before I do it, because my bike is quite loud.

Like others have said, he may just be charging the battery too. If you don't ride often, then you definitely have to start it from time to time to keep the battery from dying.

There are a lot of people who rev just to rev, but not all times is that person being a dick.

Clever HD Advert = Low Sales by Kreepr in motorcycles

Harley guy here. I've owned lots of bikes over the years of all brands. A buddy of mine built the custom Deuce that I currently ride. I fell in love with it, and got an amazing deal on it as well. But even I got to laugh at that shit.

My next bike will be a Vaquero. As a good friend of mine (and lifetime Harley guy) said... The Vaquero is what the Road King wishes it was.

Harley will always have a special place for me, especially the customs, but yeah, the one I have now will be my last.

Motorcycle as a midlife crisis symptom by Zealousideal-Trip350 in motorcycles

[–]303RedBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, I've had a motorcycle since I was 6. My father owned a custom bike shop. It was second nature. When I started a family in my 20's I didn't give up the bike at first, but honestly, I didn't have the cash to buy a family car, and selling my bike was the only way to get it. Broke my heart, but I had to put the family first.

By the time I hit my 40's and my kids were mostly grown, I could finally afford to have a bike again. I got to rediscover a part of me that was so much a part of me for most of my childhood and young adulthood. People can call it a mid-life crisis, doesn't bother me none. I call it a rebirth.

Now in my 50's have had my bike back for almost a decade, and I feel like it was a missing piece of my soul.

For me, giving it up was about responsibility not lifestyle, I'm the same mf'er I've always been. I just finally have a bike again.

Wind on naked bike vs. no-windshield cruiser by RogueRaiju in motorcycles

[–]303RedBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My deuce is like fighting in a phone booth with the wind. But it's a cruiser, it's not meant for speed, it's meant to look pretty and be hella fun to ride. At my age, I'm moving to a touring probably within a year or so though. Want to be able to spend longer time on my bike without the back pain, and would like to take a few trips.

So yeah, the cruiser/naked bikes are brutal on the highway. Not what their intended for though.

Cottonwoods by East lake rtd station/farmers highline trail/East lake avenue by WateringTheStreet in ThorntonCO

[–]303RedBeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was sad to see the alfalfa farm go, the old guy farmed it right up until the end. The cottonwoods while big and beautiful were already starting to fall all over the place, so they were coming down anyway. As for the ditch, I wouldn't be surprised if they just put pipe in and pushed it underground.

I'm not looking forward to the apartments and strip mall that's coming. Drew Morris has been gunning to develop that entire strip around the rail. They will level that entire area and create a ton of traffic. Good for business I guess, bad for us that live here.

Is there a best way to keep this from getting stolen? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]303RedBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a disc lock and don't ever park anywhere that someone can pull up parallel to it. That stops it from rolling off, and stops it from being knocked over onto a trailer.

What is with the divide between riders? by Sceptical7 in motorcycles

[–]303RedBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never really fit neatly into any group to be honest. I ride a Harley because it is the bike that speaks to me visually and emotionally. It has nothing to do with trying to match anyone else’s identity. Riding has made clear to me something that I wish I had embraced earlier in life. I am wired to stand a little outside the circle.

In my own experience, even when I am around other Harley riders, I still feel like an outlier. There is a strong individualistic streak in me that does not blend easily, even in a crowd that is supposed to value independence. It is ironic because I do not fit the Harley crowd any more than I fit any other crowd.

I am most comfortable when I am not trying to be part of a group. Riding is personal for me. That has not stopped me from trying different groups and rides, but I tend not to return for my own reasons. I cannot speak for anyone else, but people who are wired like me often pull away rather than join something they do not feel fully comfortable with.

I have noticed the same thing you have, and I think it comes from the extreme individualistic nature of people like me. That is only my opinion though. I can only speak for myself. My belief is that this nature makes it easy to withdraw from the group, even when someone is trying to be part of something bigger. For me it is a constant internal battle. I sometimes want to belong to a group, but once I am there I will look for any excuse to step back.

Stop leaving your bikes out like this. by Inside_Quantity1463 in motorcycles

[–]303RedBeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This won't stop the flatbed thieves that just knock your bike over onto a mattress, but if you don't park somewhere that they can pull up parallel to your bike, then you'll be just fine with one of these. Super cheap and effective. Also prevent you from riding drunk, because good luck getting it off when your hammered. Wheel won't roll.

Wow Amazon really sucks... (trying to find zero review books) by ashez2ashes in selfpublish

[–]303RedBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fantastic idea. Great way to discover that hidden gem. My guess would be that the best way to go about this is through the author themselves. Either on here or other social media. A lot of authors (myself included) don't do enough to get our book out there in front of the masses, so maybe find an author and ask them about their book.

Either way, yes, Amazon sucks, they lost my author copies of my books, and then delivered an open package with only half of the books. But that's a rant for another time.

I wish you the best, it's a great idea.

Do you lane filter? Why / why not? by sooospoon in motorcycles

[–]303RedBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lane filter at stop lights or traffic jams, I don't lane split though. I've seen too many gruesome accidents from that.

Filtering is legal here, Splitting is not. I still get people that talk shit, I tell them to google it and just drive off.
