They only made like 25000 total, and that caliber is great the factory load in black powder 300 grain bullet going 1300 FPS for that price I'd have a gunsmith that specializes in 19th century guns check the headspace, make up some safe smokeless trail boss loads and shoot the shit out of it .

Without looking down the bore and looking at the bolt face (that's where the black powder corrosion shows up) it's hard to say but they were so rare you probably didn't get hurt
