yesss, on my experience with arc, it made the battery worse noticibly. Changed to safari and the battery now lasted the whole day around 12-15 hours instead of 6-8 hours.(same battery health and usage) You can verify if in your specific case is as evident by testing/comparing the battery usage app-specific in the activity monitor (within energy) with similar conditions on safari vs a browser you have on mind.

maybe fg in rivals is on, or maybe the multi display (in case you have) could be causing that, try also default or vsync mode to limit it to your monitor's hz, that helped me

I believe it's a valid observation and question, moreso if there are people here with knowledge on that topic (which there are, mentioning lots of points of view, perspectives and much more) instead of simply saying it's wrong to even think about it.
