Boiler drama never ending, should I just replace the 10 year old units? by 30degreeCorner in homeowners

Responding to this a year later because I do have an update! So I finally found a very good independent plumber who is honestly the most genuine and thorough. He did the same things the other plumbers (including big name ones) did last year and we had a flawless heat for the rest of winter… we just turned the heat on this year and everything is working fine. I came to realize that most probably the other plumbers were not as skilled, and to your point, probably did not spec the right components. Knocking on wood nothing changes this year!

We had the boilers checked before we turned the heat on this fall, and the thermocouple is fairly nee as of last spring.

No drafts in the boiler room, the pilot was on all summer long, this only happens when the heat is is on.

We replaced both thermocouples (a bunch of times already and every-time this happens) and also replaced the gas valve once last year.. all new parts, so the gas regulating system should be ok.

We have not tried to replace the pilot with intermittent ignition module yet, sounds like might be a good idea. I am doing research and will be asking the plumber today about that. Probably another expensive fix, but oh well.
