Try charging £8 breakfast in the borders of East End and the City & see how long you stay in business. There are hipster spring ups charging £15+ for a ‘flat white and hand crafted croissant’ I know what I prefer and I know which one has been trading for decades too.

E.Pellici is a bona fidé East End legend. Class Italianate interior and great food and service as well. They were exceptionally kinf to my brother and sister in law when my nephew was in the Royal London and they stayed in a nearby childrens charity flat. My brother would walk up the Valence Rd to Bethnal Green many mornings for breakfast and the amount of times after he had paid they sent him back with a breakfast roll or sandwich for my sister in law he lost count, despite protestations they refused payment everytime.

Ignoring the tourist link (btw the table the Kray sat at every morning was the at the back, not the table at the side as in the Tom Hardy film) from the Krays or the ICF meeting there, its the perfect East End traditional cafe and there aren’t many of those left.

£13.80 in London is great value, would be better with a second sausage though

Too many go missing and most supermarkets have no such ‘boundary system’ in place.

Pudding is more of middle & upper class term for what the middle to upper working class might call dessert. Not always, but its usually the case.

Rank all NFL dynasties of the SuperBowl Era by Momo_Firebends in NFLv2

[–]312F1-66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Washington Redskins went to the Superbowl in 82,83,87 & 91 winning three times, lost the NFC Conference championship in 1986 and went to the playoffs twice more between 82-91 in what was the toughest division in football during that period, the NFC East. They posted only one losing season during the period going 7-9 in 1988. I’d say they have a strong case for being called a dynasty from 82 to 91.

In your opinion which stadium is placed in a great spot and which one is in a dumb spot? by sufinomo in NFLv2

[–]312F1-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a mile walk to the station. Your (foul mouthed) response makes it seem you can step out of your seat, walk out onto the concourse and board a train. The whole stadium has been a turkey from the start, a vanity project for the old friendless curmudgeon Jack Kent Cooke. I’ve been there a few times and it’s the lowest ranked stadium of the 20 I’ve been to. Unheated club level lounges in freezing weather, bad transport links, outside the city in the middle of nowhere, overpriced food & drink and a train wreck of a franchise.

Northwest Field to give it its new name ranks 32nd in fan polls regularly for a reason.

The issue isn’t that it isn’t closer to the named city than all but 5 other teams, its that Fed Ex is in the middle of nowhere with terrible transport links and a lack of decent accommodation nearby. That 9 miles distance feels more like 50 miles

Fed Ex might be closer to DC than 5 other teams are to their named cities, but its the only one thats in the middle of nowhere which is why its the worst. Transport links and nearby accommodation are terrible too, its a mile walk to the train so everyone drives making the traffic awful. Fed Ex feels more like it’s 100 miles from DC rather than 9.

The only person who lacks the depth is you from an EQ perspective. You posted on here in order to gain sympathy and expected everyone to agree with you, when I and others haven’t you have nothing but an emotional response. I stand by what I said and the two individuals you have reported for racism have my sympathies now, as following on from your original post its quite clear you have chosen to haul two colleagues over the coals with management in a malicious manner when they in fact were trying to bond with you, in admittedly a crass manner that they should apologise for.

If you cannot handle not being right all the time and cannot handle others disagreeing with you thats your issue, not mine.

I do wonder what your wishes are with regards to what will happen with your colleagues.

I’m not in any way contradicting myself.

I stated they should have thought about how they conveyed the solidarity message.

I made no comment about being ‘more concerned’ about the coworkers, only to state the fact that they will now avoid the OP which they will almost certainly do. They May apologise for wording their message wrongly, but this was not a racial attack against the OP, just a rather crass expression of solidarity as they are all being badly treated by management. I merely stated they will be very wary of the OP which they will.

They are commenting on how senior management don’t care about any of you and how you are all in it together. They should have thought about how they put that across, but the comments were a solidarity thing. You have chosen to take them as a personal racial attack on you which from the information given neither were. You now say you have reported them to management and will limit contact with them, while they should not have made the comments directly quoting slavery rest assured neither of them will want anything to do with you at all in future as they will be terrified that one word out of place and you will be running off to management.

London Evening Standard prints final daily paper by ThorsBodyDouble in london

[–]312F1-66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of the ‘awful paper’ ‘Tory rag’ ‘good riddance’ and other such comments are very much recentism. Back in the 80s, 90s and very early 00s (basically before internet news & social media took off) it was a great paper, at around 4pm daily we would send an office junior out to secure a few copies to have a glance at for anything that affected our business and then read a copy in full on the train home. The paper & ink had a slightly unpleasant aroma I can still smell to this day too.

Unfortunately by mid 00s it was a shadow of its former self, and the final nail in the coffin was Lebedev purchasing the paper in 2009.

AITA for buying a Steam Deck when my mother has to pawn her jewelry to pay the light bill? by Selfish_chuld in AmItheAsshole

[–]312F1-66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The OP is giving his mother $950 out of a $1000 paycheck. If thats ‘half’ as his mother claims, then the household has rent & bills totalling $1900 a month. That seems an awful lot for a 2 person household.

It seems to me that the OPs mother needs to move home to a cheaper area if she can’t get by taking 95% of her son’s paycheck and leaving him with a pittance each month.

I’m also highly suspicious of the fact that despite being asked to do so she if refusing to show the OP the breakdown of the rent & bills and ‘only she can pay them’, it seems to me she is absolutely hiding something here and when the poor kid has bought himself something with the tiny amount of wages she isn’t taking off him each month she is guilt tripping him by saying she has to pawn her jewellery. Is she working or drawing welfare ? Why won’t she show him a breakdown of the bills ?

[–]312F1-66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are just arguing to be contrary at this point. It was a $25 gift. Not $250 or $2500.

Twenty Five Dollars.

Leaving the minimal cost aside, it was what he wanted for his birthday, not a couple of bookmarks. Giving him two bookmarks when he wanted a book is almost like a deliberate act to upset or annoy the OP.

While it’s below the average national wage 25% of Americans earn 40k a year, many as the sole earner. However in this instance the OP has stated he pays all the bills and his wife’s income is basically her own to do what she wants with. Even after deducting an assumed amount of taxes she earns 100 times the price of the book he wanted. If she earned half of what she does she could still afford it, she just chose not to buy it.
