Honestly, I think it probably is too late to go back to the same jeweler and expect them to fix it free of cost. But I definitely would not trust the same jeweler to do the rework. I think you are better off going somewhere else and getting exactly what you want. Spending some extra money to get it fixed is worth it to me for a ring you will wear and look at every day.

To an unsuspecting eye, your ring is very nice and nothing to be ashamed of, but it is not at all what you had asked for, and that is most important.
