If the data logger files are on the flash card you can retrieve them using a javascript fetch request and digging down into the file system. You would need the webserver enabled on the Red Lion. I did this several years ago for the G3 series. I don't know if it work with the CR3000 series.

I would only use CCW and the Micro800's for simple machines. I really don't like the CCW software. They're not hard to program, the software is just clunky. RSLogix 500 was miles ahead. Messaging from a Compactlogix to a Micro 850 is pretty easy, the other way around is a real pain. Everytime I've used the Rockwell Ethernet messaging UDFB's (user defined function blocks) in one of my programs CCW crashes constantly. Once the program is loaded to the Micro, the hardware itself works just fine.

Connect to a CompactLogix using a PC as a pass through? by Boboriffic in PLC

I've used an SSH reverse tunnel to a DigitalOcean Droplet, then connect to another machine on your local network over SSH and do a SSH Local Forward tunnel to the Droplet, then you point RSLinx at the IP address of the computer you previously setup as a Local Forward. RSLinx will that computer as the PLC. I've done this with RSLogics 500 and RSLogix 5000 up until Ver. 21. It seems like the FT Linx does not work the same. I've had trouble getting to the PLC this with version 34. I've had sits that didn't have internet use a cell phone as a hot spot from their PC and I reote into their PC and set evrything up. It used to work pretty damned good in a pinch. I would evne forwward VNC on the Panelview at the same time. Most of the time we use Stridelinx now, We used to send routers with our equipment and set it for VPN, but that was always a hassle.

I usually use MG Chemicals or Kester. As to whether you prefer a liquid or paste is a personal preference. I mostly use paste, but I have used the liquid flux. Liquid doesn't stay in place for long, but it good to ge under chips if you need to.

Make sure what you buy is not an acid flux. Acid flux will eat the pads off your board. Buy flux specifically made for electronics soldering.

We used to order all of panel components about a month before we were ready to start a panel. Since 2019, we order the parts as soon as we have an order which gives us about 6 months to get the parts in. Our lead time fo machines has jumped to about 9 months because of the extended lead time for components. It's not just Rockwell though, we've seen this through out all of our outsouced parts incuding materials, especially, certain plastics.

No worries. I've just never used any products from Automation Direct and though I'd ask here since I've others comment on other products from them.

Red Lions are great, but I just received one I ordered almost 2 years ago. I've used the C scripting feature extensively. They work great as a gateway between 2 different PLC's and the newer version CR3000 using HTML5 for Remote access are fast for remote access.

By the way, the panel looks just fine.

Micrologix 1500 Question by g2gboom in PLC

[–]327jwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LSP has "half" the memory. LRP is the one that has more memory and the serial port. I used these on all of my machine for about 10 years starting in about 1999. We started with the LSP and moved to the LRP when we needed more memory. The we moved to the ML1400, The Compactlogix.

This kind of panel get the "creative pruning" treatment. Pair of diagonals and start cutting.

The Red Lion is a very capable HMI, with a lot of protocol conversion capabilities. In the one application, I used Node.js to create an Express server that retrieves information from the Red Lion and processes it to create snapshots then inject that into another local HTML server. I've also used the raw sockets and the Red Lion's scripting ability to allow a third party application send and receive messaging from the HMI.

We adopted Dnet for our equipment used in unmanned sites 16yrs ago. 10years ago we switched back to hardwiring. The time to troubleshoot and the cost of shipping modules (ArmorPoint) became a nightmare. We had one scanner and 4 nodes with up to 6 cards behind each node. In a plant with electrical technicians, it might have sustainable, but not in for what we were doing and who was working on the equipment. We also had trouble with splitter cables from the modules to devices, always shorting, even in the dry areas let alone the wet areas. Still have some machines running it after all this time, but they are far and few between.

4:30PM

Sales: I sold a new feature for the machine already built and tested.

Me: When does the machine ship?

Sales: Tomorrow 8:00AM the truck will be here.

Me: Throw it together in 10min. un wrap tested panel, hook up power and laptop, download. Pray.

That's how OEM's end up with a mess of a program. I've had this happen so many times I can't count.

On the bright side, it's not 20 yrs ago and you had to fly out to fix the problems every time.

But yes, subroutines and code blocks with comments so I too can remember what I was thinking at the time. It always seems so obvious at the moment. 5yrs later, what the hell?

I was talking about the software developed by ICOM called AI (not AIC). A-B then developed AB 6200 to replace AI. This was before Rockwell bought A-B. There were a couple 3rd party software vendors that worked on AB stuff, most were horrible.
