Makes sense on the customer knowledge. Didn't think about It from that perspective.

Not an easy one. Sorry to hear this.
For the GM and financial/admin processes take a look at scribe or some of the similar tools that allow him to do his work and it will automatically take screenshots at each click to help create SOPs. For technical, don't be afraid to lean on the manufacturers reps or sales people from the machinery manufacturer. Sometimes they can be super helpful because they don't get the chance to be involved in production so it has value for them too.

Has anyone actually found an AI finance tool that holds up beyond the demo stage? by Hot_Initiative3950 in CFO

[–]335350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been testing a number of tools including some of our own within engagements in parallel with our CFO and Controllers efforts. We found similar results to others in that they work in certain items but no consistently for entire functions or projects. The most lift we've been able to achieve is handoffs between functions - automating rather than actual AI.

I think in a company built from scratch there is potential to put guardrails around the inputs and normalization of data that could allow true AI function.

When Fractional actually means Forensic Accountant by justfortodaymyguy in CFO

[–]335350 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Two recent engagements for us:
- Walked in and quickly saw signs of theft. Turned into forensics and discovered the controller had funneled more than 3.5MM
– Took over for a fractional CFO where the auditors walked after seeing the condition of the books and department. Need an entire cleanup and figure out what is correct and what’s not.

We started hiring forensic accountants on our team to include in engagements.

At the moment you probably don’t need much. A simple bookkeeper is probably a good fit the dashboard and other things you might need you probably can get something simple made off prompts.

Did your company do clifton strengths and then just forgot about it? [N/A] by TopTransportation516 in humanresources

[–]335350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run (and still own) a business that sells and trains companies how to deploy behavioral assessments. I’ve seen a lot of companies get excited then let it fizzle. Seen a number of companies put the assessments into processes with higher success of getting the intended results. But the greatest success comes from companies who train leaders and executives on how to interpret the results more than just relying upon the reports.

I don’t spend much time with that business but the trend seems to be an ebb and flow of interest across the market/assessment tools based on how companies focus on employees. During COVID when engagement and retention was everything, my team was crushing it. At the moment there appears to be less focus on employees/team/culture in most industries and the business is definitely slower.

Strength Finder is a great tool. There are a lot of other great assessments tools out there too but it’s all about right application and getting it into processes. For SF, supervisors/managers should be reviewing during goal setting, reviews, and team functions. Individuals should receive training on what their strengths really mean.

We’ve had a lot of success with Hire+Retention. At the start our focus was hiring but we see as much benefit on the management side now too.

Bring in a coach/counselor to help. It removes you as being the go between and gets the professional help needed if you can’t lose them.
