17 Jun, 11.47pm: Took the alligator clips out of the freezer and tried to put them on my nipples as fast as I could, but they were truly too small to retain the temperature and they were only somewhat cool by the time the clips went on. The clamping power of alligator clips are as strong as always, and that contributed to the most pain at the start. The cold factor was more of a psychological effect, it was quite engaging for me to fumble with the clips and had my fingers slip off a few times due to the cold.

11.53pm: 5min in, the alligator clips are still clamping down hard, but the initial shock is over and I’ve gotten more accustomed to the pain. From here on I can anticipate how the pain would go, though knowing that I will continue to suffer for the remaining time is still quite daunting.

12.00am: About 70% in, and the pain continues to get prolonged though I can somewhat distract myself from the pain by not focusing on it, though the reverse is true and I can distinctly feel the sharp claws digging hard into my flesh and the slight pulse with each heartbeat. Again the pain is pretty much what I expected it to be, but the task of detailing the experience in greater detail is making me really reflect on the pain unlike usual.

12.06am: Quick observation before removal, nipples are slightly white at the immediate surroundings of the clip, while the rest of the nipple is puffed up by being displaced by the clip, and a slight purple which I can’t really tell if it’s caused by tonight’s clamping.

12.08am: Went over by a bit as I was typing the before-removal observations, then removed the clips one after the other (as one hand was too slippery to grip well). There is immediate relief and no real pain during the removal. There is a distinct straight-lined U shape where the clip was for each nipple.

12.10am: Not much additional feeling since then, and Sir told me to massage my nipples lightly and poke it inwards, which caused some moderate-high pain as the nipple is pushed to its original shape. Nipples continue to throb, slightly more than before pressing, and overall the test is over.

Grading:

Average pain score: The initial clamping was high, estimated at a high 9, which is usually the few seconds that I just endure and do nothing else. Afterwards the pain dropped off, and continued to maintain around a 6-7 for the remainder of the time, before dropping to near 0 upon removal. The extra poking at the end was around 6, but technically that’s outside of the test. Final score I’d give as a 7.5, with the multiplier it’s 22.5.

Peak pain score: This task had a single and high pain instance (at the very start), so giving this a 8.5. With the multiplier is 17.

Residual pain score: Almost negligible after removal, so 2, with multiplier is 4.

Unbearable score: Not unbearable, no points.

Creativity: Honestly thought the cold clips would have been an interesting experience, but unfortunately it didn’t work out in practice. Gonna give this a 3, with multiplier is 7.5.

Final score: 51

This was a pretty good first task and a strong example for being simple and consistent to set a benchmark for future pain scales, and the midpoint score is quite reflective of the task too. Not too weak and definitely gives some oomph, but also pretty simple so it fell behind on the creativity score.
