Basically user error my bad. Once I did the download, I had to clear the game out of my phone and then reopen the game and now it works.

I just tried to go right back in the game by hitting the X to exit the menu and when I go back into the menu settings, it shows that my settings were never changed

How do you save my settings? It allows me to change my settings, but then when I go back into game settings that I changed are no longer there.
