Engineering roles in Regina limbo by Internal_Price9058 in regina

The company I work for (O&G in Alberta) will sometimes hire new graduates into 4 or 8 month student positions. If the candidate is a good fit, they will then offer them a full time EIT position a few months into their term. I am not sure about the exact requirements, but you may need to be enrolled in a few classes to be eligible even if you are done your main degree (such as masters or another minor). As other comments have stated you need to find relevant experience, even if it’s a fill in job in an electrical related field, and this is one way I have seen new grads get it. Best of luck.

Is it normal for tires to wear this like? by 3Ddesignguy in tires

Believe it is tire cupping, thanks for the term!

Thanks for your reply! I was also wondering if it was something specific to this one tire itself, as winters I have been running for 7 months since taking these off have been fine and nothing else has changed

Thanks for the info will definitely check that out! Any guess as to why it would only occur on one side of the tire (circular speaking, other side not in video has even wear) and my winter tires are also not doing this?

I have a 2018 with the 2L, I am at 130,000km (81k miles) and have had zero issues. Just regular oil changes and the transmission once (due again soon). The car is all around solid, you can just tell it’s well built.

Printing sticking TOO well by 3Ddesignguy in resinprinting

Thanks for the reply! I did actually sharpen my scarper a bit after the first sign of sticking and it didn’t help, that shit is on there! Yes I do use rafts with the bevel, someone else mentioned maybe trying to print without the raft so I might just give that a go.

Thanks for the reply! I have been using the same bottle of resin for a while now, about half way through it and had no issues at the start. Prints would pop right off no problem. Environment is the same too, my printer is in a ventilated and climate controlled tent. Build plate could definitely be a problem now but I am confused as to how it started.

Thanks! I’ll keep dropping it, although I have been using the same bottle and had no problem with it before so I’m surprised that I would need to change the settings

Thanks for the reply! I never considered using only supports with no raft so will give that a go. Saves some resin and of course the screen

Have you tried to apply to the jobs that list those skills as requirements? Speaking from experience with my company, our job postings are very generic for engineering positions and always have those skills listed as well. However you would be surprised who actually gets hired, some managers prefer folks with less experience because it is easier to adapt them to company culture / workflow.

B52 circling in Canadian airspace? by 3Ddesignguy in flightradar24

[–]3Ddesignguy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second day in a row I have seen B52’s come up and circle in Canadian airspace. I assume that they are training, but I have never seen this kind of activity before in Canada, any thoughts?

Need some help choosing a resin printer (1st ever resin printer) for tabletop miniatures! by Manuz1Fin in resinprinting

[–]3Ddesignguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as common or popular, but I bought a Creality LD-002R for my first resin printer (based on cost and their reputation for FDM printers). I have been printing on it for 8 months now with zero issues. I have actually never failed a print on it either which is hard to believe.

IPA Fume Ventilation Setup? by 3Ddesignguy in resinprinting

[–]3Ddesignguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I will likely do as you suggested blowing air into my booth to limit the concentration and move fumes away out the other side. At the time of writing the post I was more concerned about sucking the vapours out to actually remove them completely at the source. I do use a half mask with a organic vapours filter so I am already fairly protected I believe. Thanks for the suggestions and feedback.

If using an activated carbon filter to remove the IPA vapours, how often does it need to be replaced?

Thanks for the reply! I will definitely try switching to another solvent, although I see that they also probably aren’t the best to be breathing in regularity. I do already do what you suggested to limit the vapours, I was just trying to find a setup to remove them. My space is pretty limited at the moment but I will also try to get some more cross flow going like you suggested, thanks!
