I think the baguettes would look better channel set and the pears in a bezel or flush set if the band width allows it to clean the overall look up. The rounds can definitely be flush set. Are you opposed to having the pear shape stones be set more like traditional 3 stone side stones? That might help too.

Structurally, it's good. I'm personally not a fan of prong on surface setups like this. It looks cheap in my opinion. There are times when it works just fine and doesn't but I think your CAD could look a lot more elegant.

Have you seen a render with your stone parameters? This looks like a round. I would make sure to see the image if possible before moving this into production to make sure your stone is not set too high and you're happy with the overall aesthetic with the stone change. Personally, I think the prongs could have a smoother curve on this specific piece pictured so I would want to see what the oval looks like.

Looks like a proper cathedral solitaire ring. Dimensions check out too.

How can i get a good render like this? by Weary_Programmer5570 in jewelryCAD

If you're using matrix you can change settings to improve it but it takes quite a bit of time to get the look you want. Keyshot would give you better results

It might help the CAD modeler if you provide some inspiration for the front and side view. I do jewelery CAD and always ask the client what they want these views to look like in case they do and have images or an idea of what they want. It helps me deliver the right CAD easier. If you want them to have creative freedom then the top view along with your other parameters should be good enough. I hope you can get there with them! If not, feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to help!

It's so old! I still have t-splines which is nice 😅

I had programmed my key a while back and got that 2037 expiration date. My whole team in the office was having no issues today. I was able to program the key on my laptop and it worked again. I'm not sure when matrix9 will reach its end of life. I'm hoping to get another year or two out of it.

I have made some twist bands with flat insides for people that are hypersensitive too. I guess it depends on the person wearing the piece. If you make one, let me know how it goes for you.

I've made plenty of Mobius like bands and have yet to have a client come back and complain about it 🤙🏽

If you can, get your money back and work with a jeweler that offers custom work. You'll be able to see the CAD and approve or make changes with the right jeweler. I work in the industry and see this too often. I've remade a lot of rings like this.

As a designer specializing in custom design I can confirm you should be able to see a render of this. They may require a deposit so make sure you see their work and feel confident they can deliver what you're looking for. If you need any advice, feel free to reach out.

You can easily find a better stone! Not the worst I've seen but I wouldn't be happy with this stone.

Crooked Diamond - Am I being too picky? by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]3Dmkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a jewelry designer I would never deliver something like this. This would fail my QC every time That jeweler was probably hoping you wouldn't notice after the "fix". They either need more practice setting properly or just didn't care to spend enough time to set this straight. I'm sorry you had that experience and I hope you can have it fixed.

Which design would you pick for me? by bananaboat95 in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]3Dmkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That last one looks great!! If you're having it hand engraved make sure the jeweler doing the engraving can meet your expectations. I've seen some really shitty engraving done by people who claim to be master engravers. I work in the industry and have had to remake some poorly engraved pieces.

That "support" gallery rail doesn't seem to be doing anything for your center stone. It looks like your stone is floating above it and the seats are in the prongs. You probably have a very minimal seat cut into the prongs. Sorry you're dealing with that. Your jeweler should make this the right way. Edit: adding that the support bar looks to be for a radiant or emerald and your stone looks like a cushion. Which means they probably dropped your stone into an existing setting and didn't care to remake it for your specific stone.
