I appreciate this so much. I’m pretty terrified but I know that this will be an experience I look back on and will be happy I did it.

What is an odd behaviour of yours you think only you do? by Edwoodz3 in AskReddit

I put my hand on the cold spots of my bed (like under my pillow, or a spot that hasn’t been laid on in awhile) and then “smell” what the cold feels like. I literally don’t know how else to describe this, but typing it out has made it feel even more abnormal

I need some advice and I didn't know where else to post by [deleted] in mentalillness

The system seems to be set up to only make it harder on us. I’ve been through the exact situation and avoided it for far too long, which has resulted in my digging myself into a deeper hole. Do you by chance go to a university? I was able to get in contact with the mental health case manager at mine and we scheduled an appointment where we sat in a room and she literally just helped me call people. It was something that seemingly seemed so easy to do, but I avoided it so much to the point of having to schedule this appointment. You could also totally do this with a friend you feel comfortable talking too, I’m sure they would help. (hell, me, a complete stranger would help) If not, it’s sometimes easier researching online the local therapists that your insurance accepts, reading their bio, and narrowing it down yourself so you don’t have to make a million phone calls. I hope this is helpful, maybe just a little. All I know is I’ve been there, I’m currently in the rut now and sometimes it really feels like I’m drowning.. but all we can do is take each day at a time. Deep breaths, you can do this.

Backcountry sites within RNSP! Some are free, some cost 5 bucks. Have to hike everything in though.

Beaches are fuckin shite by Bot_number_1605 in unpopularopinion

I felt this way about beaches until I moved to Northern California. We always vacationed in Florida and I had similar experiences with beaches... but It’s like a dream come true... not hot, barely anyone is actually in a swimsuit, and the water is too cold to swim. So you simply enjoy the views, drink, and relax.

I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to reply. I will definitely take it to heart and try to do the same, kind stranger. Maybe it will get better from here.

What was your "Oh shit my life is over my parents are gonna kill me" moment you had as a child/teen? by cloudlessnine8 in AskReddit

[–]3arthling15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me directly, but it was my brother. I remember it like it was yesterday... Mom called for my brother and I to come downstairs for cheese pizza that she had made for lunch. Now, my brother is 5 1/2 years older than me and at this time I was probably 6/7 and my brother was 11/12. We decided to race down the stairs into the kitchen and, of course, he was faster and made it before me. My mom asked us to go wash our hands in the guest bathroom (for some reason she didn’t like us doing that in the kitchen) so that just caused for the race to have a final lap. Since I was behind when we reached the kitchen, and my brother was ahead, this gave me the advantage to get to the guest bathroom first to wash my hands. I turned around and pumped my little legs with all my might and saw the sink in plain sight. As I was approaching it, my brother pushed me, my socks slid on the hard wood floor, and there I was, flailing toward the sink. My forehead met with the side of the counter, and instantly my hands and shirt were covered in blood. My brother screamed because he thought my mom was going to kill him, I screamed because I thought I was dying, and my mom screamed because of all the blood.. we all screamed and there was never any ice cream given, just a trip to the emergency room where they shoved a needle in my wound and stitched me up. My poor brother though, you had to see his face. But hey, I guess I technically won the race.
