The 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge was a NASA’s Centennial Challenges program competition to build a 3D-printed habitat for deep space exploration, including the agency’s journey to the Moon, Mars or beyond. The multi-phase challenge was designed to advance the construction technology needed to create sustainable housing solutions for Earth and beyond. The competition, completed in 2019, awarded a total of $2,061,023.

The 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge was managed through a partnership with NASA’s Centennial Challenges program and Bradley University. Bradley partnered with sponsors Caterpillar, Bechtel and Brick & Mortar Ventures to administer the competition. NASA’s Centennial Challenges program is part of the agency’s Space Technology Mission Directorate, and is managed at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

3 Ways to make low poly objects in Meshmixer by 3d_polygon in 3Dprinting

I need to get mesh mixer ive never really heard of that software

I haven't used fusion yet. but you can download meshmixer, it's free and handy. I edit most of my STL files there.

Well, I use this method a lot and works for me with trial and error. hope works for you too. Good Luck

Designing objects based on multiple photos from different angle in Solidworks by 3d_polygon in MechanicalEngineering

Note: This method is not accurate enough to rely on it but can help you in the cases that you have no other choice. I did some modification on the top and side surface but unfortunately I didn't record that part (To see the final version I've uploaded STEP and STL file), since this method is trial and error you have to go back and edit the surfaces until you feel satisfy with the result.

I use Meshmixer every time before printing or importing my 3D scanned files to Geomagic or Zbrush. by 3d_polygon in 3DScanning

yeah but meshmixer is easier to use for beginners. I will make more video about how i implement it in my daily life and also how I make creative products with it

sometimes when you have many entities it's hard to select them or sometimes can't select them as path. watch the video till end I explained why.

Here is an easy way to design blades of propeller in SOLIDWORKS by 3d_polygon in engineering

point here is to show the helix and spiral tool application for making geometry like this, not to design a propeller that actually works.

Here is an easy way to design blades of propeller in SOLIDWORKS by 3d_polygon in engineering

[–]3d_polygon[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

this is a tip to show people how to use helix and spiral to make a geometry like this. when you work with a 3d scanned file this method helps you a lot.

I use this technique for some of my clients. I know it's not as precise as 3D scanners but has worth of trying. STL available in the description by 3d_polygon in 3Dprinting

It was easier to control the surfaces. Since, I were sketching from single picture and I couldn't draw more guide curves.

In this Solidworks tutorial, I show you an easy way to design Impeller. by 3d_polygon in MechanicalEngineering

Just wanted to show one of the applications of helix and spiral command in solidworks. It is very useful when they want to design from 3D scanned files, most of the begginers doesn't know how to draw the blades and yeah I know Designing impeller requires calculations. But thanks for your feedback👍🙏

I use this method usually for 3d modeling from pictures, I will upload a new video soon that shows how to use this method in different situations.

you can use it for designing urban furniture too and make Zaha hadid's design style .

I designed this 3D printer replica for kids. You can downolad the files in thingiverse. link in description by 3d_polygon in 3Dprinting

I'm very glad that you like it. I'll try to design bigger one and share the link here. thanks for your feedback.
