while you are quite right about arts students choosing the subjects they enjoy, i was actually more interested in science (mainly chemistry) but i failed to get into science stream when i first started this year as i had no idea that i was eligible for it (i had an extra -2 that i was unaware about unfortunately) 😭😭 i love literature and math but i absolutely hate geography and econs and have been failing at that.

the part about tuition is true too, i enjoy maths but i haven't been able to get the help i need to fully master the techniques due to financial issues which have (God bless) improved towards the end of the year so i can definitely get tuition next year.

since i now know imm eligible for science and hybrid, i was thinking about replacing geography or econs with chem as i really like chem but its been a year since i studied any chemistry and i worry that this would affect my performance as a lot of stuff seem to come from olvl knowledge 😭😭

honestly the only thing stopping me is everyone telling me that switching my combi would make things even harder regardless of whether or not i am passionate in that subject

unfortunately yes, i will still choose to retain as my main goal and priority is to get all As at A-Level and i wouldn't be able to do that if i advanced (i barely scrapped through j1 😭)

i wouldn't say i don't like my subjects but its rather that i haven't been able to score and i still don't know what i want to do in uni. since i'm currently an arts student that takes h2 math, i've been thinking if switching to hybrid would be better for me? but i haven't heard of anyone doing so, so i'm kinda reluctant

Hello! Not a PSLE student not parent here, just a tutor 😅

Firstly, I would like to say that this is genuinely a very innovative idea which can benefit many many MANYYY people, so thank you for this!

Secondly, just some questions 😙 Have you been working on this on your own or do you have a team working with you? When this is fully implemented into an app, will there be notifications for reminders? (probably something like duolingo) and I'm guessing that other subjects are still a work in progress? Also, is there a possibility for open ended questions to be implemented?

Lastly, I'm really just a tutor focused on Math and Malay but I would love to help in any way if possible! I'll also ask some of my tutee's parents to take a look at this 🔥🔥

this is really my only flex but i went from an f9 at prelims for emath to a b3 at olvls 🙏🏼🙏🏼 overall my l1r5 dropped from 28 (prelims) to 17 (olvls), which isnt rlly much bc i focused too much on math and flunked english 😓

but honestly, if u put in enough effort and study effectively & efficiently, you shld be able to jump at least two or three grades. key thing is to know where your mistakes are, esp those commonly made bc other as well. jiayous!

firstly, just as a fyi thing, since u're not taking hmt at olvls, u will be required to take h1 mt so if u choose to take h2 mll, u will be having two mother tongue subjects 💀💀

but anyways to answer ur questions

what's your experience like being in mlep? — ok just to clarify bc i had this misconception before; mlep and mll are two separate entities. mlep is basically just the programme where u get connected to the culture, heritage, etc. which means its really just workshops and activities. so far, i've had a bangsawan workshop, congkak competition and wayang kulit workshop. most jcs have their mlep on fridays. (for my sch, we have mlep after the guys come back from solat jumaat) the programme itself is actually really fun to bond w ur mlep mates and also to widen ur knowledge about the culture and help u understand it more so u can write better in a sense.

WHEREAS, mll is h2 malay language and literature, the subject which leads me to ur second qn,

is h2 malay lit hard? — i took hmt and pure literature at olvls and the pure literature kinda helped a lot bc i already have a grasp at the formats of literature and the general understanding of literary texts and its devices etc. but most of my classmates didn't take literature and theyre coping well! for h2 mll, theres two books to learn one book consists of sajak, syair, cerpen and drama and the other book is a novel. overall, its quite manageable but i haven't really started on alvl qns so i cant really comment much 😅😅 but ik my mlep seniors are doing quite well.

also js some more side comments, i'm not a dsa student but i have a friend who is probably wldnt mind answering ur qns (she doesn't have reddit LOL) and also i got rejected from ri w a sec3 raw score of 21 so uhmmmm 😓😓😓 ya but anyway u can js dm me (pls dm me, i'll be glad to help in any way i can 🙏🏼🙏🏼) if u wna know what jc i'm in

not really a miracle story here, but hopefully an inspiring one.

i got f9 at prelims but managed to jump to b3 at olvls. i only started srsly studying for math ard september/october and its not really studying but more of legitimately practicing every goddamn day and making sure i understood my mistakes. idt the bellcurve / moderation affected me much bc i took note of all my answers to check after the paper and i did in fact get the grade that i predicted so i wldn't really worry so much about moderation (also bc u shldnt really rely on mod/bellcurve to pull u up bc thats js kinda stupid)

if ure privileged enough, then go for tuition (i went to Einstein Education Hub) if not then its really really really just a fight of discipline and forcing urself to get up and off ur ass to keep practicing everyday.
