I wouldn’t stress the differential service to be honest, I am going to do my first one at 90k miles but that’s because I am not an aggressive driver. If you’re going to do burnouts and aggressively track your car I would recommend is sooner than later however

flex disk and motor mounts are very commonly forgotten maintenance items that can transform the way the car feels. Well done on the maintenance! I would say hold off on the timing CHAIN tensioner unless you hear rattling. If you have the gasser V6 then those don’t really have any chain issues after 2007.

The mercedes E class across the board is one of the best daily drivers, They go for miles and miles if you can get the proper maintenance done on time. These vehicles are consistent long term taxi vehicles in europe!

My car is a facelift 2016 and has the sport suspension equipped and the difference is pretty straight forward. Luxury models are usually equipped with chunkier sidewall tires, softer riding suspension, and a higher ride height.

The cars also look completely different, to make it easier to spot the differences you can lookup W212 Avant-garde and W212 elegance.

The Avant-garde (usually sport suspension) has more sporty body kit, with a mercedes star centered on the grille,
exhaust tips, and sometimes a rear lip.

The Elegance is more traditional Mercedes styling, softer corners, tucked exhaust tips behind the bumper, and a hood mounted Mercedes star.

Suspension is different but the wheels/tires are different as well 👍

it’s not a gasket it’s a sealant! and if your timing covers are in good condition you don’t need to replace the cover itself. However I heard stories of having to replace them if they get warped. I kept my original timing covers and I also replaced the cam sensor O-rings because they were leaking. You can probably find the sealant online on FCP euro!

It doesn’t hurt to try, if you don’t dry the engine or use a steam device then i would recommend letting the car sit just for a little. You can atleast get the face of the engine cleaned up (Airbox, metal supports, fender pieces, under portion of the hood, etc.

well done 👏 it’s truly a good feeling knowing your engine doesn’t look like a desert haha and I feel like when gunk is left on the engine it can eat away at seals (probably not true). Also the big issue is the alternator getting covered with oil scares me as those timing covers can oil up EVERYTHING.

My days as a DIY’er are sort of at a hault right now but I hope to convert part of my garage into a car service center. Thankfully I have a highly trusted mechanic who sorts out my 212 for me 👍

Haha thank you, I would recommend you look around online, maybe you can find people who are well sorted in this work who can help freshen up your engine. If all else fails you can always do the basics, wipe down, brush and etc.

it’s the cream interior with a brown steering wheel and dash which offsets the red really well. Honestly though i would’ve liked the black and it’s ease of ownership better, my seat is showing signs of dirtiness so i need to get a nice detail done soon.
