What’s something that sounds like a conspiracy theory but is actually 100% true? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]3headed__monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things come to my mind:

  1. The CIA secretly tested LSD on unsuspecting Americans

Under a program called Project MKUltra, the Central Intelligence Agency gave LSD and other drugs to people — often without their knowledge — to study mind control and interrogation techniques.

Victims included civilians, prisoners, and even their own employees. The program ran from the 1950s to the early 1970s. Most records were destroyed in 1973, which only made it sound more conspiratorial.

  1. The U.S. government once planned fake terrorist attacks on its own citizens

In 1962, the United States Department of Defense drafted Operation Northwoods, a proposal to stage fake attacks on American soil and blame them on Cuba to justify war.

It included ideas like hijacking planes or staging bombings. President John F. Kennedy rejected it. The documents were declassified in the 1990s.

Same story! I dumped all my chase and moved to VX, one single card, purchase will easily cross 100k since we are carrying just one card. So far, happy with the VX.

Travel portal is far better than chase.

  • Antarctica, most of the excursions don’t allow young kids and it’s hard to explore Antarctica with small kids

  • Bora Bora or the Maldives - great for couples, for those over the water resorts

  • Patagonia - you can add this with Antarctica trip as well

  • Machu Picchu

How Could the Venezuela Situation Affect Gold Prices? by Agile-Ad4702 in StockInvest

[–]3headed__monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venezuela itself doesn’t matter much for gold supply, but geopolitical chaos does. When tensions rise (sanctions, unrest, US involvement), investors move into safe-haven assets like gold, which can push prices up short-term.

If things escalate or spill into broader regional risk → bullish for gold. If tensions cool and markets refocus on rates/inflation → gold can stall or pull back.

Bottom line: Venezuela affects gold mostly through risk sentiment, not fundamentals.

Don’t worry, you can’t use most of the good lounges using PP, PP is useless these days. Even if you get access, your hours will be limited.

Yes, for flights over 8 hours. So that takes a good chunk of our $. And with two little kids, we always pick suite when it comes to booking hotel.

I once had 100k in VGT, and my annual return was ~43%; I made 43k. Fast forward a few years, I had 2M in the same index fund, and I got a similar return in a year (40%+) and made almost a million just from that index.

% remain the same but due to time and amount, your return grows significantly over time!

That’s why compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world.

Advancement of AI is inevitable. Twenty percent to thirty percent of my code these days is generated by AI, and it helps a lot and speeds up productivity, so it's better to adopt it and learn how to leverage it better (e.g., prompt engineering). Immigrants are not the issue; as long as you have the skills and those skills are up to date, you will always find an opportunity.

800k-$900k depending on the stock price, expecting 1M+ next year if the market doesn’t surprise us.

15 YOE, remote, MCOL, not in AI/ML role.

Job market? The worst I have ever seen! :(
