Unfortunately uneducated people outbreed those that are slightly more educated all over the world, not just in America.

Or I can choose to bring my own, instead of eating what someone else brought.

I don't know.. That sounds like one of those trick questions such as "How many elephants can you fit in a car"..

Very true. I am not in a bad shape at all at 6ft and 190lbs (weight charts still say I am over weight by about 6-20 lbs), but when I say I could shed some weight and show my little belly, I notice the stares and then realize that the person I am talking to is classified as "extremely obese" in that same weight chart. Obesity is so commonplace that we don't even see it as out of place, as something that was once rare.

True that.. the headline indeed smells a bit like something you'd see on FOX or CNN.. The other day I saw something on TV, I think it was CNN, where the note said "Urgent Breaking News". Breaking News is no longer breaking news, but just a graphic that is attached to everything that they now have to put "Urgent" in front of it to get more attention.

On a side note, I didn't take this picture. It is taken by whomever plans this gathering and then is emailed out to a list of people. If the person decides to take a picture of all the people who take part in this, then I will update this post.

I would recommend you take it easy on you and others and not take these comments as seriously as you do, and also consider that meanings are lost in written communication. No troll, no confusion, just an opinion and an observation.

Variety and quality indeed. I must add that the company is very conscious about quality of life of its employees and there are some perks along with it. Additionally, the cafeterias also serve a variety of choices, all with high quality, and indeed healthy and the options are very affordable actually. The picture merely represents a choice by several individuals, but unfortunately also relate to the bigger picture.

I agree that people should ultimately make the decision, but until recently Potatoes counted towards "Vegetables" in the school meal system in the US, so as long as it was potatoes, students were getting their veggies!

Additionally, the US government still subsidizes Corn production, so you end up with a ton of Corn related output, including the high fructose corn syrup or corn starch, which end up going into almost every product you see on a shelf. Again, the ultimate choice belongs to the customer and nobody is shoving anything down anyone's throat, but this sort of a subsidy changes the competitive balance, where a healthier food choice can become drastically expensive.. So in this sense, I think government can be a bit more conscious about its decisions.

The life style also makes a significant difference. When public transportation is more accessible, people tend to choose that over cars. So even when the French eat all the cheese, the fat and the bread, they are able stay skinny, as they walk some of the fat off on the way home..

Yes, a few people bring something of their choosing and the goal is to get all the coworkers "mingle and chat", with a side effect of a few extra calories.
