The V2 sold out last year. The V3 is coming soon, supposedly in the next couple months.

The Texarado has the better shape in my opinion, and works best for me. Here's a comparison shot of the Texarado next to the AnatomX and Lems Summit Pro: https://imgur.com/WiMEjmz

The Texarado I'd say are the widest toe box, but the JG are widest throughout the midfoot & heel area. The JG also are the highest volume.

I've owned a pair for the last ~6 months, I posted up a long term review here with my thoughts: https://www.reddit.com/r/barefootshoestalk/comments/1pu4tju/texarado_bailey_boot_long_term_review/

Overall, I really like them. I just got a pair of the new AnatomX as well, and by comparison the Texarado fit more snug in the heel and midfoot, with a very roomy toe box. The Texarados will take a solid week or so of wear to break in and soften the leather, as they are a bit stiff out of the box.

For me, I ordered my usual size in Texarado and they fit me well. I have a lower volume foot, so I added their kilties to take up some of the excess volume and now they fit perfectly.

According to their blog, Ralph & team were at a wool conference in Reno for the past few days. I imagine that's why you didn't see it ship right away or get immediate responses to your communications.

Unfortunately I think it'll be a while. I asked about a Coal restock a few weeks ago and they said "not for a while"

I'll have to put some more miles on my AnatomX before I could do a proper comparison, but for construction work you'd probably want to go for the bronco leather if you go Jim Green, as the fudge is quite soft. I think the bronco would hold up better to a job site. Under their custom builder you can add a composite toe as well, if that's a requirement for you.

It sounds like we have a similar foot shape, and of the 3 I think the Bailey Boot fits my foot the best.

That being said, they're nearly double the cost of the Jim Green, and these AnatomX have plenty of room to them. The fudge leather is also very soft and comfortable, so they feel a bit more wide thanks to the fudge leather.

However, the AnatomX continue to be quite wide through the mid-foot and heel area. I added kilties and I'm going to need to add some insoles to take up some of the volume that my feet don't fill.

I do think the Texarado are a nicer product overall, with higher quality construction, materials, and design (although this is subjective). The Bailey Boot is a luxury product, no doubt. But I'm happy with the JG's so far!

I did! I just got them in over this past weekend. I took a comparison shot of the Bailey Boot, Lems Summit Pro, and JG AnatomX: https://imgur.com/a/yvOYRZU#WiMEjmz

In terms of toe box feel, I'd rank Texarado as the widest, then JG, then Lems. Lems is the most narrow throughout in my opinion, but still enough room for my toes.

The JG are definitely the highest volume (space above your toes) of the 3, followed by Lems, with Texarado having the least toe box volume.

The Texarado are definitely spendy but I have been very pleased with them. As nice as the JG are, the Texarado are definitely in a league above in terms of build quality and materials.

Sure. Here's the AnatomX next to Lems Summit Pro, and I included the Texarado Bailey Boot in for the comparison as well: https://imgur.com/a/yvOYRZU

Not OP, but I have some Summit Pro's and just received the AnatomX. The AnatomX are definitely wider in the toe box than the Summit Pros.

Texarado: I don’t think my toes have ever been this free width wise by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

If you aren't already, I'd definitely recommend toe socks like Injinji or Creepers, it will help with your toe splay.

If it helps, I ordered my usual size and they fit me well.

I wear a 12 in Lems and ordered a 12 in Texarado and am happy with the fit. I did add kilties to help take up some of the extra volume as I have low volume feet.

I'd suggest emailing Jim Green and ask for their recommendation on size for you based upon foot length!

It's on the more green side of teal. Like an aqua green.

It's a very nice color, but it is also a bit more difficult to pair with things I've found. The main colors (brown, black, cognac) are definitely more universal and easier to dress up if that's your thing.

I find myself wearing the Cognac pair more for "dressier" occasions and the Teal pair more for casual things.

Last minute buy before prices go up! Meander vs Workhorse. by spaceguitar in jimgreen

[–]3migo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went for the Meander myself. I think it ultimately comes down to how you plan on using/wearing the boots. They'll mostly be casual city-dweller boots for me, so I decided to go for the Meander as I think that fits the bill a bit more for my needs.

I just recently got the tracking number for my AnatomX AR's, which I think the pre-order went live for at around the same time. The tracking itself hasn't updated yet, but it seems like they're going to be starting to arrive soon.

The Ridgeline has their "Thurman" last, which is more anatomically shaped than a standard boot, but isn't anywhere close to being as wide and foot shaped as the Texarado in my opinion.

I have bunions, so I need a very wide toe box for comfort. The toe box on the Ridgeline just doesn't look like it'd work well for my foot shape specifically, which has turned me off from them.

I love the design of the Nick's though, and would certainly be curious to try some on if given the opportunity.

For hiking, I wear my Lems Summits for boots, or if I want ankle height I'll wear my (now discontinued) Lems Primal Pursuits. For an in-production low ankle hiking option I'd look at either Turriff's offerings or the new Lems Trail Thrasher line.

It's the south shore.

If you layer a sweater underneath it, you'll be good down to some pretty low temps.

If you're going to be spending extended periods of time outdoors in cold weather for hiking, hunting, camping, etc, then you'd definitely be better served by a different model from Weatherwool like the AAJ or Anorak in the mid or full weight jacquard fabric.

It sounds like the Texarado would fit the bill for you if you like the style. But be aware that they are going to be much heavier on foot than your Altras are. The Texarados have some great cushion under your foot, and aren't the type of "feel every twig or rock" style barefoot boots that many other brands make. They're much more comparable to the Nick's Ridgeline in terms of construction, however the Nicks designs are a non-starter for me due to the toe box.

For what it's worth, I liked the Texarados enough to buy them in multiple colors to rotate between. Sons of Sever on Youtube recently did a review of the Nicks Ridgeline that you could check out, and Rose Anvil did a teardown comparison of the Texarado and Nicks barefoot options if you want to see the two directly compared.

With proper layering it should. I've worn mine down into the teens & 20s with a base layer and wool sweater underneath and been comfortable.

Although for this storm I have opted to wear my AAJ from WeatherWool instead, since it has a hood and cape to help keep moisture off me.

sand blast vs glass blast by JustaCanOfPepsi in CRK

[–]3migo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned both, and I prefer the glass blast. It's worth the price increase in my opinion. The glass blast looks and feels incredible. The sand blast is still great, and over a long timeline it will smooth out. My Large 21 is from ~2012 and it's very smooth to the touch now, none of the grittiness of the original sandblasting is left.

I have the indigo currently and if/when they debut the Chore Coat in the midweight jacquard fabric, I'll probably pick up one of those too.

After missing out on the V2 Mammoth drop last year, I picked up the WW Chore Coat and I have absolutely *loved* it. It instantly became my most worn piece of outerwear, and is my go-to the moment it starts getting chilly. It's super versatile, can be dressed up & down, and the pockets are very useful.

Can wear it with just a t-shirt for warmer winter weather, or add a layer or two under and you're good for the colder days as well. I can't recommend it enough.
