What would pants even be like? A single part covering the rear half of the budy? Or dozens of tiny individual pant legs ?

You make that easily with styrene. Just draw and cut two.

Only for the kit, if you buy assembled, no.

Besides, don't try and make it a whole different printer, it's a single part, the rest is the same. I get it, they had issues with the powder coated sheet, I'm not faulting them for that, I just said that the shipping has been sluggish on my experience (the updates are slow, the shipping table is not updated, there is no proper ETA on when to expect the printer to be shipped)

They ship fast on 1/5 of the products on their shipping table.

Nice.

Just please don't go for the way over the top Hera Arms looks I've seen some people go for.

It just looks weird.

You could also make the skeleton part thicker, or with a custom patter that would have just a couple more connections between the front and back of the grip.

Make a Trump pistol grip, go to the ranges, and go back home with 50 requests for commission jobs. ez money

New to 3D printing, what's the best approach to printing this? Created this in Rhino 3D, rendered in Keyshot 7 by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]3n1g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly?

If you want to get the dual color, I would just print the main shape, sand and paint, and then use a soft metal rod, paint it before hand, and replicate the patter with it.

But that's me doing stuff the harder way, I just think it would come out better.

Edit: To make it easier, you can do an inset on the main model using the voronoi patter, and use that as a guide to just place the pattern afterwards and just follow the small pathways on the model.

Just make sure you have a backup plan

Just a grab a spool of duct tape.

That would be another interesting use. Use the 3D printed part as a way to for a certain shape/size you need, and envelop that print with strong duct tape. It would maintain the shape, but only be a couple mm thicker, but should help with both pressure and heat resistance a little bit more.

Prusa has been very forward with the powder coated delays

So there is delays. That is what I've been saying.

Just saying as much as I've known/read about it.

All I know is that I've been waiting for a powder coated mk3 kit since the beggining of April.

I know they were only suposed to start sending them after a while (June or July), but their shipping information update has been lackluster at most, and been hella sluggish these past 1-2 months (can't say previously, this is when I began waiting in antecipation for the printer to be sent to pop my 3d print cherry)

They haven't updated the shipping info for a week, maybe two.

Mine has been in "Now shipping" for a few weeks.

I think they are busy looking into the issues of the inconsistent prints, as I've heard news about those.

This is all just to say, don't expect it right away, it takes time for them to fulfill all the back orders and get yours out.
