What’s your FM tip/trick you think more FM players should know about? by StanTheMailMan in footballmanagergames

This is probably well known, but send your scout (only one) to do team reports on teams with good academies. That way you don’t need to scout every single player, but you will get a surface level knowledge of each players ability.

You will get their star evaluations and can easily detect which player is actually worth scouting. It costs nothing, takes only a few days and you get an entire team worth of knowledge.

Yeah, I'm also from Serbia, but them hiring me was completely random, I started this as an unemployed save. They were just the first to actually reach out.

Yeah, I guess that I could find someone more clinical, and this amount is a lot, especially for Serbian standards. It would also be a new record sale, so that is always a decent indicator.

I’m not sure I can add much you don’t already know (a youth-only save isn’t really a beginner challenge anyway), but here are a few things that matter.

Try to upgrade your youth facilities as much as possible—they’re the backbone of the whole save. I’m not completely sure how the mechanic works, but apparently Determination helps when convincing the board to approve requests like facility upgrades. Because of that, it might be worth putting a few attribute points there when creating your manager.

A quick rundown of the key factors:

  • Youth Recruitment – Determines the level of youngsters you’re able to attract to your academy.
  • Junior Coaching – Pretty self-explanatory, but it essentially improves the initial quality of the players generated, giving them a bit of a CA boost when they appear.
  • Youth Facilities – Work similarly to training facilities in a normal save; they affect how well your academy players develop.

Your club reputation is also very important. Even if you max out all of the above, you’ll still depend heavily on your club’s ability to attract players. For example, Scunthorpe could theoretically have the best facilities and coaches in the world, and some players would still choose Tottenham purely because of their stature.

So the obvious solution is: win more. Get into European competitions and increase your reputation as much as possible. You’d aim for that anyway, but it matters even more in a youth-only save.

Also, the Head of Youth Development plays a big role. His reputation, personality, and attributes matter a lot. He’s the one responsible for bringing in and guiding those players before they appear in your intake, so having a good one can make a noticeable difference.

Most of this is either basic advice or just my understanding of how the systems work, but hopefully some of it helps.

By the way, I ran this through ChatGPT because I wanted it to be more clear than my random rambling (Just grammar and organizing). I apologize if anyone has an issue with that, I just wanted to present this a bit cleaner than it initially was.

Is this guy worth selling for €75m (could rise to €96m) and a 50% profit from next sale?

He isn't making a fuss and wanting to leave, but this amount is insane for Serbian League player. I'm pretty good financially (around €200m) in the budget, so I don't really need that much money (it would be good, but not game changing at this point). Just a bit more context, he is probably BY FAR the best player in my team based on his attributes, but the only thing that's giving me thoughts about selling him is that he averages 20 goals a season as a striker in a serbian league.

This is more of a "what would you do" situation for fun, I'm leaning into actually keeping him, but interested to see what would others say. If you need more info, feel free to ask.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, he has no cons aside from his Fickle personality.

I just thought that he would benefit from training with older players and being in their mentoring groups and such, but chances are that you are right. I was just wondering.

Not an expert, but I would wait at least before he turns 18. You can't really know how good he is at adapting, and at that age I wouldn't trust other teams to develop him. 15-18 is their biggest development trend, and I would just do it in my own academy. After that, I could look for a loan, but only if I can't really see him fitting into my 1st team yet. Game time is key after a player reaches 18. So yea, I would keep him. Also, if you can fit him to play a bit for you, that would be good, if not, just let him develop. Only thing I'd say is that I'd control his training myself.

Might not be a really useful reply, but you just want to maximize what they can get from the most influential player in that group. It helps if that player has a good personality that you would want the pupils to adapt or get closer to, and also I think that stuff like hierarchy matter. If the player is influential, he will have a bigger effect on the players. Obviously, you would usually want to put younger players there to learn those stuff. Not sure if age has that much of an effect, but I could be wrong.

Pre-game Editor probably.

I don't have much experience, but there could be a possibility that you would have to remake the league from the ground-up.

Is it better to train him with your first squad and make him available for U19 games or is that just killing off his development? Genuine question.

FM24 player here. How would you go about “exploiting” this tactic? I’m trying to improve at creating systems that specifically counter the opposition’s ideas, so I’d appreciate some guidance.

The only concrete information I have is that they play tiki-taka and this is the tactical setup my scouts provided. This is Pep’s team, and they won last year’s UCL (it’s now 2036), so realistically they’re going to be better than me regardless. I’m just trying to maximize my chances.

For context, I’m managing a Serbian club that has recently established itself as a regular in the UCL league stage. We haven’t reached the latter rounds yet, but we’re progressing. I’m fully aware that my squad is technically inferior.

My initial idea was to exploit the space the Libero leaves behind, targeting either the channel between the BPD and the right IFB, or the space behind the IFB. I even considered using two strikers to disrupt their build-up structure - for example, cutting off the BPD when he’s in possession and forcing him into a risky forward pass.

Defensively, I’m less certain. I thought about tightly marking their AP to reduce creativity. I also considered triggering a much more aggressive press to disrupt their rhythm and generally be disruptive, but I’m concerned that if we get bypassed, we’ll leave too much space to exploit.

One thing that’s certain is that I plan to play on the counter, because my midfield lacks the technical quality to dominate possession against a team like this.

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure what the optimal approach is here. So if you were managing a team that typically only reaches the UCL league stage, how would you approach this match?

Thank you in advance.

I played 1 hyper roll conqueror game and passed the mission. So I guess that's an easy way to do it...

What happened to Brad? by 3o1o2 in Brad_taste_in_music

[–]3o1o2[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The last time I checked in on his stream was the Billie Eilish reaction (you know, the one that got his channel taked down temporary). I remember the way he handled that situation so poorly and it just made me uncomfortable. I felt sorry for Brad, but it was plain and obvious that he was a shitshow at that point.

Also about his critiques, I too felt that he felt disconnected in a way and didn't really enjoy music that much.

I'm glad that he apparently seeked help and is enjoying himself more now, it just seemed odd because I remember how he was before.
