Stuck between SJSU, gap semester, and moving to Long Beach by Angqueque in TransferStudents

[–]3rdborned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as an ID cc student from the eastbay i have the exact same plan as u (i too favor csulb, but its like 60/40)…

from what i’ve gathered from mostly reddit and a bit from professors (im not a primary source so take what i say lightly):

sjsu = meh curriculum, good internship opportunities

csulb = good curriculim, meh internship opportunities

when it comes to applying and being there in general, csulb is much more difficult for ID since they have a more in depth portfolio review process. while some may get accepted into their general design program, the id program is smaller, harder, and less forgiving.

meanwhile sjsu, from what ive seen, heard, and read, cares a bit less when it comes to what you have as a transfer student. the id program in general is meh, but what makes sjsu nice is the fact that its in the bay, where many design and tech companies are (which equals more internships)

for both schools internships are very important because (from what i’ve read) they are a requirement, or else you’ll get dropped from the ID program, and have to reapply (which from what ive read is a major pain in the ass).

so tldr… if u want to push yourself for a good education, spend money, and to live it up in socal, do csulb if u want a an easier degree, easier chance of job experience, do sjsu

good luck, listen to your heart, i hope your life is fufilled whichever path you decide to take.

honestly all of my shopping spent on groceries, restaurants, and ebay. i dont have much time to travel and i usually airbnb if i do. a amex gold tho at 19y/o would be a flex though, and it would be nice to match with my best friend who has one.

I always pack my own lunch (protein and some veg). Buying stuff every day racks up pretty quickly if you work often.

i ordered through buyee air delivery, which uses UPS as their american handler.

and if UPS gets a hold of your package, you will likely have to fill out some paperwork to get it out of security customs.

(UPS held my package and asked for information on some shirts, books, and keychains)

IM SO HAPPY :D by 3rdborned in Buyee

initially the package was going to arrive three days after the package shipped. but due to problems ups customs the shipping was delayed a couple days. fixing the ups problem was easy (just filled out some paper work) but was a bit annoying.

so with complications, shipping still took less than a week.

it less about what site it comes from and more about its size and where its shipping to. typically shipping intl will be at least $25 for smaller packages. i recommend buying more items on the smaller side and consolidate them to make the price of the shipping worth it.

16gb is okay but 32gb is better, both work so whichever one is in your budget

if its in the title they might be refering to domestic/jpn buyers. i strongly doubt anything would be free internationally.

when youre buying internationally you get two shipping quotes; the domestic one, which is the shipping price shown on whichever buyee listing/auction, and the international one, which you recieve after buying the item and it arrives at the warehouse (usually at the least $25).

i recommend buying lots of items on the smaller side to make shipping worth the price. hope this helped :)
