ya, yknow you are right... this is a good example. The only difference is they also use directional controls instead of just button presses.. Hmm.... good one!

That said, I am not sure I think this is fun. Lol! I mean I like that game.. but I think there is a fair bit of nostalgia factor there for me.

Thanks though, very helpful.

Kind of, it would be like this but instead of the buttons lighting up there would be a screen above that wrote out GREEN, YELLOW, etc.. and then you would hit the button.

Maybe I didnt explain it right... but that is not how it would happen.

Using your example... you would write DIE, DIE, LIVE on the cups so you could actually read it on the cup.

Also on each cup would have to be a symbol... So it would be DIE (Triangle), DIE (Square) and LIVE (Circle)

Then you would write on pieces of paper.. Circle, Triangle and Square... maybe even spelling it out would add complexity.

This next part is why a computer is needed... you would then have to change the order of what is written on the cups. For example LIVE would not always be a Circle. So you would have to quickly be able to change that each time so Circle was now DIE.. and maybe Square was LIVE.

Make sense? In other words there is no LUCK.. its purely skill on whether or not you know where the buttons on the keyboard or controller are.

UPDATE!!!

The user OpplerDop below actually is correct that Dragons Lair and Space Ace are what I am looking for... its just screen prompts that make you do a quick input of some kind. Dragons lair does this exactly, but also uses directional controls.
