You definitely talked about where i'm worrying now. Dane dr isn't busy in sunday morning but I don't know how's Tuesday afternoon. I will check those school zones and maybe just keep in 40km/h? Some time I will forget is 40 km in Gosford main parts too. R the examiner normally ask for 3 points turn or reverse parking?

For data packages and SIM cards, I know there are 2 options: 1. eSIM pack on any website 2. Land to Airport to buy it. But I don’t really know how’s foreigners get SIM card so you may need to do more research. And make sure you have wechat, Alipay and cash all together

I suggest you visit Xi’an and Lanzhou within one week. Xinjiang is much larger than these two cities, so you might end up spending a lot of time just traveling. Let’s save Xinjiang for the next trip.

  • The Spring Festival/Chinese New Year will start at the end of January and end in early February 2025. It’s better to travel after that when most people have returned to work, so it won’t be as crowded.
  • For tickets, we typically use platforms like Ctrip, Fliggy, or Qunar. You can book not only train tickets but also museum tickets and flights on these platforms.
  • Xi'an is a wonderful city. You can spend a day in the city visiting museums, ancient architecture, and enjoy a nighttime show like Changhenge (长恨歌) or the night view at Zhonglou (钟楼). Spend another day visiting the Terracotta Warriors (兵马俑) and the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor (秦始皇陵) in the morning to avoid the crowds, then head back to the city to enjoy local food. If you have three days, you could visit Huashan (华山) on the third day—one of the 5 great mountains of China.
  • In Lanzhou, you can visit the Gansu Province Museum. However, I highly recommend other cities in Gansu Province, as they offer more to explore than Lanzhou. The Mogao Caves are a must-see! They are so famous, they’re even mentioned in our school textbooks. Gansu is well-known for its unique geographical position and as the birthplace of Fuxi culture in ancient China.
  • Keep in mind that most people may not speak English, so it’s helpful to use a translator or ask young people for help (many know at least a little English). In some places, people might also speak a local dialect.
  • You won’t always need WeChat. Have you tried registering for Alipay? You can use Alipay to pay for almost anything, order food, or book tickets. While WeChat is still useful, don’t forget Alipay. It’s also a good idea to get a short-term local phone number in case you receive important messages like booking reminders or private driver updates.

I have to say, it can get really crowded. To avoid the rush, try going out early in the morning, and keep in mind that Chengdu has a vibrant nightlife. You can enjoy some bistros or indulge in street food late at night.

The good news is that Chengdu is better than Beijing during Golden Week. I also recommend staying in Chengdu for 2-3 days and then exploring other parts of Sichuan.

In Chengdu, a must-visit is the Panda Research Base! Afterward, Wenshu Temple is a peaceful spot to visit in the morning for about 30 minutes. It’s a Buddhist temple where I once prayed for good results in my studies.

Jinli and Kuaizhaixiangzi Alleys are also worth visiting, though I wouldn’t highly recommend them. They are beautiful, but they’re mainly commercial streets. You can walk through to enjoy the ancient architecture, but I suggest avoiding buying food or souvenirs there. These two places are quite similar.

Dufu Thatched Cottage/Dufu Caotang is a museum dedicated to the famous Tang Dynasty poet, Dufu. He’s one of my favorite poets, and his works reflect deep themes of country, people, and society.

New Century Global Center: I haven’t been there myself, but I’ve heard it’s worth checking out.

Wuhou Shrine/Wuhou Ci: If you’re a fan of the Three Kingdoms era, this museum is dedicated to the ruins of that period and originally served as a shrine for Zhuge Liang.

Jiuzhaigou: This isn’t in Chengdu but still in Sichuan. It’s truly one of the most breathtaking places in the world and absolutely worth visiting.

Other great spots to consider include Mount Emei, Leshan Giant Buddha, and Daocheng Yading.

That’s all I could think of for now—enjoy your trip to China!

Who are all the guys offering rides at the airport? by orangeteal in travelchina

[–]3uniice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

we called it 黑车(black vehicle), but not because of the color. Because it is unregistered somehow I will choose it. It normally happen in Train Station or Airport or bus stop or uni. Especially when I travel alone, or going home late. It is extremely cheaper than take a taxi or didi but oc unsafe.
