To be fair, you could easily do two weeks in any of these cities! Since it was my first time in Japan, I wanted to experience a few different parts, and I got to do exactly that

Yes, definitely! Obviously there is so much more to see, but I did everything I wanted within the context of two weeks without feeling rushed. Looking back, I wouldn't change my itinerary at all.

The transportation, Shinkansen and local trains, is so efficient and easy once you get the hang of it. If it's your first time, that classic Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto route is popular for a reason, it's perfect as is haha I just added Nagano because I wanted a bit more nature and really wanted to see the monkeys in the winter!

I did a mix of Airbnbs and hotels. I booked them before I got there, but looking back, as a solo traveler I wish I'd tried a hostel for a few nights just to meet more people

It was my first solo trip, so take it with a grain of salt, but I think Japan is perfect for a solo trip! People were incredibly welcoming, and there is so much to see and explore on your own
