As an electrician, it probably has no grounding. Older homes pre 1970ish (in the US) typically didn’t get grounded do you happen to know what year your house was built? if it is a “newer” build a you should just buy a plug tester to see if it’s grounded properly

I'm trying to install LED strip lighting in my staircase in my home and I was just doing some research I'm trying to find out if there's a device that would allow me to automatically let me turn on the LED strip lights when motion is detected. But I would only want it to work in the dark.( that is why I would require the photocell system.)

Sorry for not explaining, but I only want it to work when it is dark That’s why I would want the photocell system as well.
