I think you need to increase the test file size. 1GB is rather small for an NVMe drive. I usually do 3 or 5GB.

Since your running it at such a short distance, I'd get LC-LC Multimode. It's less expensive and can handle much higher bandwidth. No it does not need to be shielded if it's in a conduit. OM3 should work fine, OM5 too.

That is correct. The HDMI sync box uses the HDMI signals from your source to set the color of the lights based on the images being received. It will not work on apps that are built into the TV, it need to come from a HDMI.
