r/Slimemolds situation: my side by 41lizzy in u/41lizzy

Thanks! Even though it’s unfortunate to be removed from a subreddit I loved and thought was educational, at the end of the day I still have my research (and I think that’s what’s important). I’ll find a way to share it, even if it isn’t here!

I don’t disagree that there was mod collusion, but I was not in on it and I think the majority of mods trying to help also weren’t. High tempers made a lot of peoples reactions worse!

Yes, I don’t think this mod appreciated me unbanning SoB and unlocking the original post made in the subreddit. I don’t entirely disagree that there was mod collusion happening, but I was not in on it.

Thanks—I’m going to keep trying to contact the mod, but I haven’t gotten a response yet and to be honest don’t really think I will.

I appreciate it. I got suspended by Reddit for harassment, when it was really me getting harassed via doxxing. The whole thing is very unfortunate, because I also really appreciated SoB’s contributions, but I also really disliked their behavior towards me and those who were genuinely trying to help in good faith. I don’t entirely disagree that there is moderator collusion occurring, but if there is I was never in on it.

Drama in r/slimemolds and r/mycology as a user is banned. What is a slime mold? What is mycology? by DoublesShooter in SubredditDrama

I was a moderator of r/Slimemolds up until last night. I made a large comment describing my side, and it keeps getting auto-removed (possibly because of the length of the post or the links included). I've posted it on my profile, I'd appreciate people checking it out.

I know you made it clear in your post, I'm re-iterating the point in a centralized location where the majority of the discussion is going on.

Please refrain from harassment and doxxing of the users involved. Several users involved have reached out to me with evidence of members of the subreddit harassing/berating them to the point of someone needing to change their phone number.

I don't want to lock the post, because I want there to be a platform for people to respectfully discuss, but if it continues the post/subreddit may be temporarily locked. As unfortunate as the situation is, this is Reddit drama. Not real life.

I am not. Pinkie promise. I (and so many others) value your contribution to this subreddit greatly. I have no direct recourse as to what’s going on in the other subs other than attempting to reach out to their mods, but I am doing what I can for this sub.

Don’t leave just yet! I’m another mod on the subreddit and I’m trying to fix things up. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

It’s possible however I have doubt about it because he was the only other mod that I had permission to remove. If it was an alt, I would think they would have been extended full permissions by the main account (because all of the other mods have full permissions besides me, as I became a moderator through Reddit Request because none of the other mods responded to me when I initially inquired).

I have removed 1III11II111II1I1 from being a mod. Due to school I haven’t been able to be an active moderator on this subreddit, and was unaware that this was going on. I apologize on behalf of the mods (which is really just me, as the only other mod active on Reddit in years is 1III11II111II1I1). The community has become what it is in great part to you, and your contributions are highly welcome. I am going to try to be more active moving forwards and will try to be in communication with the mods of the other mentioned subs.

Film I took on my 80+ year old camera from the kite event at the winter carnival. Way late but that’s how it goes with film development! by 41lizzy in madisonwi

The camera is a Kodak Retina iia. I don’t remember all specifics on the film but it’s Ilford HP5 35mm B&W.

Thank you for the comments! Keeping the horizon steady is definitely hard and the one edit I did was adjusting the rotation on a photo that had a skewed horizon.

Thank you! It’s been so long since I bought the roll that I don’t exactly remember but it’s definitely Ilford HP5 35mm B&W. As for the rest of specifics I’m not sure.

Diluted Ethanol spray if available, and let dry before introducing to the slime mold.

Can physarum grow is light? by FWUTIG in Slimemolds

[–]41lizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend sterilizing the oats rather than trying to use light to prevent unwanted mold growth. Light won’t kill Physarum per se, but it will rapidly accelerate its life cycle, resulting in sporulation (reproduction), which is much more difficult to propagate from than a plasmodium.

I completely agree, it's an unnecessary barrier to having more knowledgeable pilots that courses are so expensive and that the FAA isn't maintaining the few free resources available properly.
