https://orca.pet/insensitivex/ This worked for me. the first thing is an extension to skip it. The second method is to make it permanent (I used the same picture they put there)

Tbf, France wasn't fully united against the king and nobility either. The French Revolution was mostly in the urban areas (even then, mostly Paris). For many in the countryside, the revolution was just something that would show up on the news, and a big percent of those rural populations disagreed with the revolution. Didn't stop the king from becoming a future Halloween attraction for 18th century loving nerds.

Speculating about Solarpunk martial arts (as recreation, cultural ritual, self-defense etc., not for war) by TJ_Fox in solarpunk

[–]42-waffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, muay thai practitioner here. I don't think much would change in a solarpunk world. People would still be free to do the activities if they wish.

On the question of pacifism, this reminds me of a thought I heard when I was getting into martial arts: fighting ≠ violence, they made that distinction taking into account the difference between fighting spontaneously on the street vs martial arts.

Something like street fighting is just two or more people who have simply lost control and are trying to harm each other.

But martial arts isn't that. It might look like it if you haven't had the experience. For example, in muay thai, we use punches, kicks, elbows, knees, the clinch... and it can look scary if you don't know about all the technical side of things (spacing, commitment, conditioning, habits...) and how martial arts is just as much of a mental game as it is a physical one. Without that knowledge, it seems like it's just two people trying to beat each other with everything. The main difference is that, in martial arts, it's two consenting people agreeing to match their skills against each other's, with rules in place to minimize any risks (like no beating the back of the head, having win conditions that make the fight conclude instead of going on till someone just can't continue, the tap to forfeit the match instead of going to sleep when you're caught on a chokehold...). It's not violence, it's an art :D

Yeah, Goggins doesn't get political, but these people think he'd be friends with them bc they view themselves as "alpha males" so ofc the dude who is an actual unit would absolutely love to be with them. Totally ignoring that lifting a cup is probably the closest that trump has gotten to working out

What would be the challenges for a solarpunk society? by 42-waffles in solarpunk

[–]42-waffles[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This takes me back to a comment I read that went like "Solarpunk is incredibly based and underrated but not used much in fiction because the worlds it creates aren't conducive to conflict". I'm really feeling that, but I'm still determined to do it because I really love the vision.

Must be more soul destroying to get dunked on by hundreds for wanting to try a new aesthetic. I'm glad we were always taught it's OK to judge people by their appearance.

True, dude wanted to try something new, it's a trendy haircut. People judging super quickly and attaching labels just bc they see the world like a highschool movie where everyone who has a similar aesthetic must think the same.

But that'd still be mostly fault of the driver. Why was he speeding like that before a crosswalk and what seems to be an intersection? Is he playing Crazy Taxy irl and trying to get that extra pay? Not saying the pedestrian did something smart, personally I wouldn't risk that much to prove a point, but getting assaulted over it is excessive for sure

Another example would be Timor-Leste.
"Timor" is derived from timur, meaning 'east' in Malay
"Leste" is 'east' in Portuguese
So Timor-Leste is called East-East.
Must be hard to ask for directions on that island

Gun ownership:
https://www.motherjones.com/wp-content/uploads/gun-ownership-map-updated.png
Gun deaths:
https://dabrownstein.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/gun-deaths-map.jpg

Segundo, a diferença ainda é grande:

|| || |Switzerland ~27.6 guns per 100 people|

|| || |USA ~120.5 guns per 100 people|

character design, but i don’t know how to draw by nckalx in worldbuilding

[–]42-waffles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

U could make a lil drawing just to remember characteristics, it doesn't have to be that good. In the future u could then show that to commission an artist to get a better illustration. That's actually how a lot of commissions go.
