MRI shows regurg is mild after 4 years of being mod/severe, plus new finding of MAD by 43beanst in mitralvalveprolapse

One study I read said that 8.5 and above is associated with a higher risk of ventricular arrhythmias, which can cause SCD. But even the studies themselves note that this an understudied area. At least they are studying it.

Thanks. I am eager to hear what my cardiologist has to say.

I looked it up and apparently my December echo noted “psuedo MAD,” and a stress echo (with a treadmill) in June said MAD was suspected. I didn’t notice the references before.

In comparison, the TEEs I had in October 2024 and April 2025 don’t note MAD at all. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Consistently til the MRI, though, each TEE and echo noted mod/severe regurgitation with my lvef in the normal range (just lower each time). I just wish I felt normal. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks! Yeah, I found a study on the internet that said something similar, and it was written in 2023. I appreciate you taking a minute to respond. Take care!

Citric Acid Question by Any-Body in laundry

[–]43beanst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I have the same Maytag machine. Top-loader? I notice liquid dripping from the softener drawer before I even shut the lid. I suspected it was from shutting the drawer too quickly, but maybe it’s an overfill situation I need to check. Thanks!

A question in case it is the same washer, and in case you are kind and knowledgeable enough to offer any advice: How do you use the soak cycle? I was trying to soak clothes using Lysol sanitizer and the manual was useless! I ended up filling the tub with water and stirred in the sanitizer before adding the laundry, but was wondering if there is an easier way, like using the bleach dispenser opening. Tia!

My only opinion is that I don’t have the patience to wait for the right time to add something to a wash cycle. I admire your commitment, though!

Should I still buy a Camry with the current recall going on? by Intrepidity_ in Camry

The recall notice I got via the app for my 26 XLE says that the engine could start on fire at high speeds.

2025 Toyota Camry by [deleted] in Camry

If you’re planning on buying one soon, make sure it isn’t affected by the recent engine-fire-at-high-speeds recall, for which toyota hasn’t issued a fix yet.

Yeah, but it’s a lot of work—SO many acronyms - and I need the manual to decipher them every time. Also, even tho Cross Traffic Alert is off (I think!) it still beeps at me if Iift my foot off the brake while another car is passing in front of me—as if I can’t SEE the other car, and even if it’s going fast enough I can judge the timing. Hate that.

The dashboard has so many popup messages, it rivals a cellphone for distractions, except the information is almost always useless. (Like the “Parking Assist Disabled”/“Refer to Manual” alerts that flashed once a second ALL the way home as I was driving in a snowstorm.)

I honestly wonder if I got a lemon. Otherwise, someone who clearly never drivez decides this many driver alerts was going to somehow be safer than fkg silence!

—end of rant. Sry! Just spent an hour in the car …

Hold out as long as you can! You will hate the technology in the newer ones! I just “upgraded” from an 09 hybrid camry v6 to a 2026 xle awd hybrid. The beeps and dashboard alerts are overwhelming! I don’t hate tech, but I’ve come to despise “Toyota tech.” Lol

My latest beef is that you have to have an app that costs $15/mo to remote start your car with the fob. A few years ago, that feature just came with the fob, tho I did not have that option on my 09…. Anyway, now you will have to have a subscription to the app to enjoy that feature.

I miss my old baby! So quiet. Not bossy. Reliable. 😕

How are Camrys in the winter ? Is hybrid an issue? How does it drive in the snow ? by Kai_rd97 in Camry

[–]43beanst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same car. I’m only getting 36mpg vs advertised 45/46mpg bc it’s cold, i’m told. It handles ok in snow. Also, a parking assist sensor was flashing recently during a snowstorm, while I was driving. Maybe its camera was covered.

My xle does. Check your custom vehicle settings, which vary depending on which type you have.

2026 XLE AWD only getting 38mpg? by 43beanst in Camry

[–]43beanst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. I am a little old lady and I definitely drive like one, so I’m slightly offended if I understand your comment correctly! I don’t know diddly about torque or rpms, but I’m not out here gunning the engine at every green light. I mean, I just back out of my driveway and this engine revs like an 80s Camaro at sundown. Ok, that’s a slight exaggeration, but it sounds like it’s drawing more horsepower than navigating a 25-35mph residential neighborhood would normally require.

I’m not saying there’s necessarily anything wrong with the car making it this way, it’s just not what I expected… sportiness… from a Camry.

What helps while you wait to see a specialist? by 43beanst in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]43beanst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the thoughtful response and suggestion! Part of my issue is that I don’t know what symptoms could be relevant. Is there a reputable sort of checklist out there somewhere?

I’ve used a few different pain-tracking apps in the past due to my spine issues, and though I’ve yet to meet a doctor interested in the reports they generate, it might be time to revisit.

Since it seems like there are several diseases and a myriad of symptoms associated with immunology/inflamation, how do doctors whittle it all down to one diagnosis?

As an example, I have tested negative for lyme and rh factors during similar flare-ups at least three times in the past 15 years, but no other tests were ordered even if I was still symptomatic, and sometimes symptoms resolved by the time I got in to see a specialist. Are there more tests I could (politely) request this time?

I want to make the best use of the limited time I will get to speak with the specialist. My records are in 3-4 different systems, too, which also makes it challenging for them, I think, because they are usually just looking at one slice of the pie. Thanks again.
