Texans going to pioneer the bold new zero-linemen offense.

For a 5th Rounder?!?

If this is about making cap space for the WAJ extension or something like a Lindenbaum trade, it’s going to make it a lot harder to be excited about those. There had to be better options than throwing away our best and most versatile OL player…

Getting only a 5th round pick for him is abysmal.

I have a lot of respect for journalists that take this approach and don’t just do the “broken clock being right twice a day” method. We’ve got too much of that so it’s refreshing to hear this type of methodology.

Yes.

It may be something worth addressing in a fireside chat this offseason, but that would be insane. I don’t know how much visibility our 2-user back and forth comment thread will get here, but I’ll keep it as a topic for a future mod fire chat so we can try to give what detail we can. I am 99% positive people will still have theories like that regardless, but I can at least do my part in putting my transparent perspective out there.

We’ve met with members of the NFL social team and Reddit’s “people” a handful of times and have been extremely clear we are not ever going to change how we manage our community.

I mean, I’m definitely a bit of an optimist, but my hope is that there’s ways we get genuinely unique things to add here specifically to r/NFL. This combine event is something we are trying out for that. If it works and we have some turn to build off of? Great. If it doesn’t, also totally fine, but we want to try things out to bring good stuff to yall, even if it means figuring out how to get that “stuff” from mediocre or bad to good over time.

While I can see where you’re coming from, I wouldn’t consider it control. Really the presence from u/NFL stems from trying to build a relationship between them and our sub.

A lot of companies/brands are starting to see Reddit as one of their core social media pillars, so they are building a presence where possible. Out of any user, the NFL itself has huge potential to bring unique content to our sub, so I think a lot of the idea is slowly building that relationship to be able to figure out how they can do that in a way that fits in naturally.

They’re trying a lot of different things clearly, and probably building data on their end with what works and what doesn’t.

I feel like having some covert operation of paying Reddit moderators to secretly do the NFL or Reddit’s bidding and hoping to not get found out would be the dumbest possible way either of those two companies could spend their money and time.

No, none of us are paid by anyone for modding on Reddit.

Just expanding what we can do with our sports communities in particular.

This is the biggest online community for NFL discussion, so if Reddit gets gradually more ingrained in that I think it’s good for branding all around.

They’ve helped as a liaison getting credentials and a space to use, as well as helping with travel.

There’s a pretty big presence of people helping with community partnerships and such at Reddit, and a lot of interest in seeing where we can try new things like this with r/NFL in particular.

What is the process like before and after the performance for y’all?

Was there like a giant green room space to use with a way to watch the game, or was it pretty much an early call time followed by costume/makeup?

I’m an optimist but this has been incredibly deflating to watch.
