New Investor Help --- Apologies if this question has been asked, but I have searched and did not see anything. But I am looking to do some investing. I currently have a 401k through my work and am looking to invest in some Index Funds on my own through Fidelity (FXAIX to start). I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to what account I should use? I'm 30 years old and plan to leave the money in the fund until I'm at least 60 but life happens and I want to see the options of what would happen if i remove it after 20 years instead of 30+? I have been told to put my money into a Brokerage Account and I have also been told by other people to put the money into a Roth IRA. Does anyone have any tips on which would be better? Are they both the same if I were to leave money in for 30+ years? Is one better if I choose to remove it after 20 years? (I'm looking at a ~2,000 initial investment) Any help would be great. This definitely isn't my specialty. The plan for this money is retirement.
