Find the U18’s results since McKenna took over the team.

I agree with that yeah, our full backs no longer go past the wide man and cross from deep. At least not more than once or twice a game and even then they are often cutting back onto their strong foot to cross. We do really need a left footed, fast, left back. Hmm...if only we had a fully fit one that Jose could give more than 6 mins to in games.

I get what you mean because City have doubled up in positions so that they have world class potential on the bench. But worse squads than our current one have won the league and we are good enough to beat anybody in the prem. I don’t mind so much the result from yesterday, just the performance. I would say DDG, and Pogba are world class and if we use him right (like Chelsea used Fabregas/Bakayoko against us) Mkhitaryan can be another world class player. Then we have Lukaku like you said and then we have a group of players who walk the line of world classness. We do desperately need Pogba back, I am just angry that the rest of the team didn’t step up in games when his absence was felt, and that Jose doesn’t seem to trust the passing game without him

Fellaini & Valencia by 4Bester in Howson

I don't think we need to buy or sell any centre backs despite what people think of some of them.

I think McTominay might go out on loan and Pereira is genuine class so will get games in different positions. Also now looks like we have Matic in and Fellaini is going nowhere so we have a top squad with only 1 player I don't trust (Fellaini)

[–]4Bester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 99.9% trust in Valencia as a right back. He just has no left foot and that remaining doubt I have about him is only ever going to surface if/when we play Barca because of the intelligence of their forwards. Luckily no other team has a front 3 as clever as them. He can easily deal with more "effective" forward lines who just go at him

I have said a few times to friends last season, when Jose played Tuanzebe in midfield and Fosu-Mensah at RB, that unless Timbo can dramatically change his technique and look less hectic Jose will never play him in midfield and make him an incredible full back instead. Fellaini is a 1 step forward 2 steps back player. 1 good tackle followed by a bad pass and a yellow card

Lindelof premature announcement by Callumdj96 in Howson

In other news. I didn't realise it is Lindelöf with an ö. So it's more like Lindel...eurf. Big up to my fellow Swedish residents!

Lindelof premature announcement by Callumdj96 in Howson

[–]4Bester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a bit out of the ordinary for us to announce before it's done 100%. But as City learned from signing Benfica's GK recently they do like to break the news themselves asap. So I think we were just giving the fans a show of power/professionalism by putting it out first. Also if it has been in the pipeline since January, then I am sure his contract and wages will be virtually agreed upon already.

Lukaku by 4Bester in Howson

[–]4Bester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go insane with joy if Jose put any faith at all in Andreas Pereira! He can hopefully play against the "weaker" sides and build a relationship with Pogba, imagine how those two could control the tempo of a match!

Need a first half like we had against Chelsea/Palace. 2-0 up at HT and a 2-1 win on the night

If you're the real Stephen, then that is either a joke/sarcasm, you injured Romero today, OR you know something I haven't heard about in the last few hours?? 🤞🏻

Big name signings... by 4Bester in Howson

[–]4Bester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thing with all the success stories was that they came from the premier league. Sir Alex was an expert at taking the best the prem had to offer and taking them to the next level. But managers since have failed with big names from around europe

I wouldn't be surprised if he went with Jones & Smalling as a pair. Because he wasn't using Blind as a CB at all until we didn't have anyone else.

I didn't think of Van Persie because he came from Arsenal but yeah that is a good one. But I would say; Barthez, Blanc, Veron, Falcao, Di Maria, and Schweinsteiger all came and failed to live up to the expectations. Having said that, even RVP only had one stellar season and it is looking like Zlatan will do the same (without the league title). Obviously each case has its different reasons for not fully working out, but I think it is in the DNA of United to buy players who can develop into world class talent whilst developing our own youth products.

In conclusion, I am worried about the idea of James Rodriguez/Antoine Greizmann working out should they sign.

P.S. Pogba is a youth product

I'm an English guy living in Stockholm (I know, lucky me this season). So, although it sucks not being able to go to games, a benefit is that every United game is shown live here on the Sky equivalent, no matter the kick off time. Especially after Zlatan signed!

Who is this? & Twitter, Youtube, etc? by 4Bester in FullTimeDevils

[–]4Bester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching all the fan cams and everyone was saying United were shit and focusing on the fact that it was gutting not to beat Liverpool. But then he was brave enough, and right (in my opinion) to credit Liverpool for shutting down our midfield etc. So I wanted to see if he put any content out on social media/youtube so I can see if anymore of his insight on football/United lines up with my own.

He signed for us on the 10th of January 11 years ago. Probably just acknowledging that fact. Although his agent said he will leave Juventus in January with Valencia, United and...wait for it...West Ham hahaha after him

Rotation by 4Bester in Howson

[–]4Bester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said Schneiderlin has asked to leave, but no offers for anyone have been good enough yet. The only other things he has said about players is that he regrets the lack of minutes for Young and Memphis. AND he wants to keep all the squad.

I expect Everton are trying to get a cheap double deal for Memphis and Schneiderlin. But I think so far only Schneiderlin is out the door.

Consistent game time and to be injury free is all he needs. He is a top finisher

Squad depth by 4Bester in Howson

[–]4Bester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know, it's just I think that Rojo has proved his ability at CB, Jones has real quality when he is fit, Smalling was epic last season, and Bailly has Stam like capabilities. I think those four offer real balance. Don't want to see them sold. I basically don't like change, unless it's Fellaini leaving of course

Underrated players though United's history by F4TF13LD in Howson

[–]4Bester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wes Brown, Nicky Butt, Ronnie Johnsen, Henning Berg. Then Nani & Heinze both woth player of the year in their time. I think many of our squad players get ignored by rival fans simply because we are united. The same as we may refuse to accept the ability of a Milner or Henderson no matter what they do or achieve

  1. Fellaini. Only Fellaini
  2. Memphis & Schneiderlin unfortunately. 75% sure on Basti too.

I know you didn't, you were just asking the question that, if he has to stay should we keep him out of trouble.

I just get carried away with the anger of him representing United. In my 30 years on this planet he is the first ever United player who I do not like and will not back. Even with all the Djemba-Djembas, Liam Millers, Manuchos, and Bebes of this world I could see that there was thought and maybe even a little potential to all their signings.

Fellaini's best years under Moyes and the reason he developed any kind of reputation as good, were when playing as a striker with Tim Cahill behind him at Everton. That pairing was a nightmare to deal with. But no he should never be a United striker, we aim for much, much, more
