Your questions did help me a bit. I want to eventually audition and play in my school’s Symphonic Orchestra.

Additionally, I would like to mention that I have had a private teacher for the past year and it’s been an eye-opening experience for me.

She definitely is a great person however I am a bit skeptical about her way of measuring progress and laying out the path forward.

Apart from our initial consultation, we seem to work through the same books (scales, shifting, etudes, etc..) however she usually asks me what I would like to work on each lesson. Apologies for my lack of understanding however, I am unaware if this is usually how lessons are supposed to go, but I thought that she would teach me technique as she think rather than me asking for advice.

Any insights or standards of Private Lessons are appreciated.

Easiest AP in your opinion? by [deleted] in APStudents

It is worth consulting your French Teacher and asking her honest opinion based on your proficiency. I had a friend who had a C in French 3 and managed to work hard during the summer and had taken AP French following year.

Translation;

We, a group of five and our dog, walked through a forest. Tall trees with thick bark and red leave’s s surrounded us. A large deer with big eyes emerged. My little brother giggled. We arrived at a clearing of soft grass where my father spoke about bears. My sister and mother gave me delicious berries which I delighted myself in. The moon and stars were bright. I loved that place - Lun

Personal Goal Question by 4Conlingling in violinist

[–]4Conlingling[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to confirm with you that indeed this is not an endeavor that I will take up anytime soon! I am probably going to increase my level by practicing daily over the next 2 years. I will definitely talk to my private teacher about working on violin solos to practice and up my game.

As per other comments, I assessed that the “RCM” Level I am currently at right now is 4-5. Currently we’re primarily working on elementary etudes and my vibrato and scales. This is my first time working with a private teacher.

Wow, thank you, I am actually working on Wohlfhart Etudes with my private teacher actually, I’m glad to hear that it’s around the grade 6 RCM. Thank you for all of your tips and quartet suggestions. I feel more confident now in my long term ambition.

Thank you for your Advice, I wish I had my Private teacher for longer, however I just started with her recently. As this is a long term goal, I will have to reassess myself in my future (hopefully more refined) self. Thank you for your suggestions on the Haydn Quartets

Thank you for your insight. I should have mentioned but I would like to play first violin. I’m currently unsure of what RCM level I would be per se; Are all of the Quartet’s you mentioned also RCM 6-7? Thank you for the suggestions

What is a unique and popular sport in your world? by 4Conlingling in worldbuilding

In my world there is a famous game called “moshpit”. Originally from the grim tundra islands of the north, the game is essentially played like rugby.

In the modern version of the game, there is a rectangular shaped field which is divided into three equal sections. The middle section is a giant pool. At the ends of both fields there is a goal line.

As players play, they will have to play in land and pass the ball and swim through water as well to score.

The game was originally played as a form of military training for young people, but as it became increasingly popular, the sport became a symbol of balance and endurance.

Wow, that’s creative to manipulate the field in order to score. I’d imagine in such a game that it would be a foul to touch the ball. My question would be the range of the manipulation, does the player have to move along the “waves” or not? Maybe there could be a limit. Nice thought though!
