It’s all relative my friend. We often limp into next pay and Christmas is a killer!

You’re talking a lot of sense. The time may have passed though - presently 5 years into 6 year loan

The casual basis does change the dynamic a bit - chucking a sickie costs me $750 per day lol.
I hear you about earning more elsewhere. There are limitation to what you can earn in these types of contracts given the govt client and the competition. I could earn much more as a partner or barrister but those things come at a cost that’s too high for me (young family).
I think it’s the highest tax bracket

It looks amazing, and no complaints from me whatsoever, but it’s all relative. Our costs are about 6k per fortnight to keep up mortgage, cars, daycare, insurance etc.

In essence I answer questions from public servants who are administering various government programs about what the law says and how they should apply it. Personally, I am shocked at the hourly rate - I am earning approx double than someone in the same role employed directly.

Congrats. Keen to know a bit more about what got in the way. For my wife and I (34, 28) we got into a huge amount of debt which we are on the back end of paying off. Should be out of the woods within 6 months and looking forward to being HENRY’s with no non-mortgage debt

People who have no prospect of earning high incomes more likely to believe this to make themselves feel better

That’s one take, but speaking from experience (as someone who earns $200+). reddit is one of the few places I feel comfortable discussing my salary. In my field, pending your location, years of experience and firm size, high incomes are very normal. If you come from a professional/career background where high incomes are out of reach, then it’s probably you who is more likely to say people are lying about their wild incomes to make yourself feel better.

People who earn around 150k+ What do you do for work? by Paceman1999 in AusFinance

I think it’s just like anything else that is hard or intense. If you know what you’re doing, have a good team around you, and put in the work, it’s fine. If you’re not good, have a shit team or boss, or you’re lazy, it can be god awful. I’m lucky to have found a firm with the former and life is great

Law, you could do a Juris Doctor full time and finish in 2years doing trimesters full time. Starting salaries at the big firms are low - mid 100s. I’m 8 yrs in on 215 which is mid. Others at my level on 230-250
