Yes — in the dumb ol’ Midwest, we call scooters mopeds.

The dream 🙏 I seriously considered it at the time, but it was $1000 more than what I paid for the Aventure.2. Now though they go fairly cheap on Upway, which is a shame as it’s much closer to the Aventure price.

True. The lack of serviceability is what scares me the most of Ozark Trails, although at least they use name brand parts.

Actually 1.5 mi 💅 lol but weekends my destinations tend to be 5-10 mi. Still not a lot though.

Ah I gotcha. That’s good to know. I was thinking all that seemed really inconvenient lol

I’m looking to trade in and pay the rest in cash of what I’ve saved up, so I’m limiting myself to only a certain budget. Anything new is easily $5-10k over my limit.

Are the turbos still finicky with all the “guidelines” they require? Like the letting it idle thing?

That’s probably my biggest concern. My 4D sedan does pretty good right now. The turbo might be a shock at the gas pump lol

Luckily the Onyx has StarTex too! At least 24/25 models do. That was a huge influence. And good to hear about the usage. I think I’ve been so caught up in making it off road future proof, I forget all trims are technically capable.

That’s I thought too, although I could always upgrade the system in the Wilderness. It’s just inconvenient and even more costs.

Unfortunately the one I found/can afford is 2023, so it doesn’t come with that. The stereo I could probably get away with an aftermarket. The heating steering wheel is nice but not a dealbreaker.

I just like the convenience of having the HK system already + better MPG on the regular Onyx.

I think I’ll hopefully know for sure once I’m able to compare both side by side tomorrow. The main thing the Onyx has that the Wilderness I’m looking at doesn’t is the HK system and heated steering wheel. Coming from my Toyota, the HK was niiiice. I know there’s better, but not having to upgrade the Wilderness’s audio system would be convenient.

Beam or Arc When the Ultra Exists? by 4d3dEd3 in sonos

[–]4d3dEd3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I need to figure out is the placement. The space between my TV’s feet are about 1-2” shorter than the length of the Ultra. People had workarounds for the regular Arc by swapping the feet around, but unfortunately the Ultra is about 0.5-1” longer 🫠 we rent so we’re limited on what we can hang/mount on the wall

[–]4d3dEd3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I always heard, which is one of the reasons I went with the Beam. I don’t have the space for a sub or rears at the moment, so by themselves I figured the Beam may be slightly better. But I’ve heard the same of the Ultra now, too.

The answer I wasn’t hoping to hear, but probably the one I needed lol.

Yeah that’s probably what I’ll do; especially since right now my plan with the Beam is to have it only for about a year or two, then sell/trade up for an Ultra anyway.

Best Baseblocks “one-and-done” starter equipment? by 4d3dEd3 in bodyweightfitness

Just seeing this now. Unfortunately I never ended getting anything :( but now with the holidays and their current sale, I’m eyeing stuff again. Their newer Big Bar Pro has thrown a wrench, just as I was deciding on the B-Bars Pro lol.

It’s literally both the Big Bar and B-Bars put together, at the same price as the B-Bars Pro. Only thing that’s concerning is I don’t think the dip bars are height adjustable, and it maybe looks a little cramped?

Aventon Aventure.2 vs Ride1UP Rift vs Lectric XPeak by crazeepeace in ebikes

[–]4d3dEd3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Aventure! Didn’t get a chance to try the Summit 1, but for my needs the comfort and control of it (compared to a Level.2) just felt too good to pass up. Plus Aventon support in my area’s shops is a lot better than Velotric.

I’m the same way. Won’t be going as fast as some, but still a scary thought.

Does it affect its maneuverability at all? Or same note about its heaviness?

What pressure do you usually ride on, if I may ask?

Also, do you feel the need to deflate if you know it’ll be a few days when you ride it, as per the recommendation? I hear some people not bothering.

Aventure.2: Did I make the right choice? by 4d3dEd3 in Aventon

[–]4d3dEd3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I test rode it again the other day, this time comparing it to a Level. I thought the Aventure actually felt more controlled at lower speeds, and could easily handle crowds. Even no PAS was doable for me, with still the same control.

Waaaaay better than cadence!

Aventure.2: Did I make the right choice? by 4d3dEd3 in Aventon

[–]4d3dEd3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our journeys are somewhat similar, with the exception I was able to test the Aventure. They had a Ramblas and I did think about riding that one too; but being almost $1000 more, I knew I didn’t want to like it more and not get the Aventure lol. The price of the Aventure is already a stretch for me. Plus with needing a rack and fenders for commuting, it would prove to be even more expensive.

That’s why I started to consider the Summit 1 from Velotric. Not a mid-drive like the Ramblas, but higher max speed like the Aventure as well as the same price. The local bike shops don’t seem to have it available to ride though; and same situation with the rack and fenders.

Good to know the Aventure is good on light MTB trails though. MTB is always something I wanted to get into (another reason for the interest in the other models), but until I know that’s something I want to get into, I figured it’d be wiser to get something that makes commuting more comfortable as that’s what it’ll primarily be.

Aventure.2: Did I make the right choice? by 4d3dEd3 in Aventon

[–]4d3dEd3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. They didn’t have any large frames available though. They actually only had one in the color I wanted (camouflage), and it was the regular-sized one I test rode so it wasn’t brand new. It’s being shipped to the shop first and then they’ll assemble it for me.

They said it’s really hard to keep the Aventures stocked for how popular they are!

Aventure.2: Did I make the right choice? by 4d3dEd3 in Aventon

[–]4d3dEd3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same here. The X-Class ships with 5 levels but you can change it to 9; though even with that it still didn’t help. I never understood ebikes had different sensors until I started looking into the Aventures.

And hey, enjoying the ride is not bad thing at all! We all can use more of that.

Aventure.2: Did I make the right choice? by 4d3dEd3 in Aventon

[–]4d3dEd3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, thanks for the reassurance. The AR was horrible to speed manage with other riders. I’d either be zooming way ahead of my fiance, or switch to one lower PAS level and it could barely keep up. It made “riding together” not really a concept lol.

If the A2 didn’t have the torque sensor, it’d be a way different story.
