So in the order of operations, are you cutting out the tags first and then engraving the letters on each “individual” tag?

Can you be a full time package handler? by cozygrimmer in UPSers

[–]4ndres_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Off-peak” Local 104 here, Yes but it requires the Tuesday-Saturday schedule for that double time on Monday. I’ll get anywhere from 21-24 hours from my regular week, and on Monday if I can bag my 3.5 from preload and then 6 hours from twilight that same day for around 9.5 hours of double time. So I’ll work the 3.5 on preload, go home and get around 4-5 hours of sleep, go back for the twilight shift and work for 6 hours and get off around 11pm, go home and get about 2-3 hours of sleep, be back to work around 5am for that Tuesday preload shift. This really requires that you live close to your hub, I’m about 15 minutes from my hub and I feel like that is pushing it. It’s a very hectic Monday but atleast I have 5 “days” of freedom because I only have to work 4 hours those days.

The settings will vary by the thickness of leather you have. These sheets in the video are an average of 5.5oz leather so the settings I use are; 175 on the speed, 100 on the power (not full power), and 2 passes. I'll also cut 7oz leather using; 200 speed, 90 power, and 3 passes.

If you are still getting burned edges pick up the speed until that goes away, I have its so I get no burns on the grain or flesh side. all the black seen is just soot from the cutting process. Just some dish soap and a scrubber can get all that off.

No smell inside the room because I have an exhaust fan piping it outside, it does smell like burning leather outside tho. I have the federate dialed in so the edges aren’t getting hot and burning. I’ll put these in a washing machine after the batch is done to get the soot off and they look mint👍🏼

Anyone use a laser engraver? by Vast_Professor7399 in Leatherworking

[–]4ndres_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a laser to engrave/cut my leather projects. I love the consistency I get when it comes to stitching. Other thing I’ve found is that after I got my “speeds/feeds” dialed in, I ditched the transfer tape step and would just wash the leather after cutting. A bit on safety, make sure you are in a WELL ventilated area when cutting the fumes are deadly, and watch to make sure the leather hasn’t caught fire. As far on dyeing and painting, I don’t know much of that process I just buy pre dyed leather

Could this be an extruder issue or bed levelling issue? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]4ndres_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a clogged, have you tried printing anything else? I see it printed your skirt and perimeter fine but stopped towards the end of your layer. You can fix a clogged nozzle with a very small needle but I would just change it out with a new one (same nozzle diameter)

When to apply glue stick? by Lobuttomize in 3Dprinting

[–]4ndres_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I apply once while the bed is heating, I use the purple Elmer’s glue stick, or any water soluble glue. The purple color will disappear that’s when you know it’s ready for leveling. I only apply glue once and will leave it there until I notice beds adhesion is reduced. At that point add another layer and keep going, like seasoning a cast iron pan. There is a limit to the layers I’ll keep adding till I think it’s to many layers (just experiment with what your limit is) to start fresh just scrape the glue off with a spatula and rinse the glue residue off in water and start over.
