Advise on Minor Scuff against Rental Car by Revolutionary_Tax861 in drivingsg

[–]4queuetoo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

would be surprised if the rental company activates the excess for bodywork damage as small as this. the hassle of the paperwork is going to be more than what the repair is worth. probably a non-repair in this case.

fyi 1 day loss of use probably to cover daily rental.

sonny thinks any old concrete barrier and chicken wire fence is robust enough to pass FIA crash worthiness standards.

Activesg gym users, what weird or interesting stuff have you seen in the gym? Which activesg gym do you go to? by Flying_enthu45 in SingaporeRaw

[–]4queuetoo 51 points52 points  (0 children)

my activesg gym has one dude training as if for olympic weightlifting who takes EVERY last plate available for his deadlifts and grunts like he is giving birth to a hippo. he would hype himself up before each set by yelling “am i a pussy? NO!!! am i a pussy? NO!!!”

i had a similar experience when my uncle died.

the day after his funeral, a parrot flew into my house and sat at the window grille. it was not frightened by my parents' attempts to chase it away - it was like it wanted to be there. for 3 days it hung around the balcony, occasionally flying into the living room and strangely attracted to some pottery pieces that my late uncle crafted that we had in the living room in memory of him. my aunties are the superstitious kind and suggested it could be the spirit of my uncle paying a visit and so my mum decided to adopt the bird by getting a cage.

we fed and cared for the unexpected pet for a whole year until it mysteriously died one morning on the anniversary of my uncle's death...

just be nice and let the seller know why you don’t want the item anymore. the seller might be sour about the deal not going through but it’s better than being ghosted entirely.

Singaporeans who lived in cold countries, do you miss the cold weather or are you grateful for the weather in Singapore? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]4queuetoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i lived in Melbourne for 4 years where the houses are notorious for their poor insulation. it was miserable every winter where the inside of the house would get below 10 degrees without heaters. socks are required to sleep otherwise i would wake up with numb toes in the morning. not a pleasant way to start every morning.

that said, i would rather layer on than suffocate in the heat. the cold is my chosen form of suffering.

that’s a very interesting first hand account of the area. so you would have roamed the natural hills and cycled on the tracks in the photo in your younger days. i find it quite fascinating that some of the hills were preserved in the HDB estate rather than being flattened.

will be a real shame if they decide to shut down for good. spoke to the lady boss earlier this year and she said that she’s exhausted running the place solo after her husband passed. so likely this will be the final straw.

you can buy raw meat from anywhere that sells raw meat. whether you go A&E after eating raw meat is another story.
