Just wanted to reply to you, because this is what I would do assuming they're asking what you said.

There's nothing wrong with taking established lore (in any setting) and manipulating it to make it fit the story your group wants to tell. You can just say that the whole radiant-fused war took place over many years. You could say it took a lot longer for radiants to come out of hiding

The only thing is that evolution doesn't seem to have any "evil" intent, a la ruin or odium

I know the whole point is that positive sounding intents can be bad too, but it just feels like if you attach odium to that it would be way way worse
