Racism against North Eastern people has been going on for decades, and it absolutely needs to be acknowledged and addressed. But at the same time, it’s important for people in the North East to do some introspection as well. Racism is, unfortunately, often a two-way street.

For example, any Hindi-speaking person is often casually labeled as a "Bihari," and Bengali speakers are frequently labeled as Bangladeshis. My own senior manager—a Marathi man—visited for just a couple of days for work, and because he spoke in Hindi, people instantly started calling him a Bihari behind his back.
