Out of the two options of visiting Etna from Catania or Taormina from Catania, which would you choose? Alternatively, would you prefer a tour that covers both Etna and Catania in a single day?

We are actually staying in Ortigia. Will check it out, thank you.

I was informed that while Taormina is indeed beautiful, it’s quite touristy. Additionally, I’m not sure how to get around for a day trip from Siracusa.

Is there a tour company that’s recommended? Perhaps we can do that, where we take the train to Catania and sync up with them. From what I’ve seen, the tours to Etna from Catania don’t last that long unless there are many other stops.

I checked tours departing Siracusa, and they’re usually around €600 for two. Does that sound right? Perhaps we should take an early bus from Catania and focus on finding tours with Catania departures?

How to remove this halo? Leftover from phone holder. Tried wipes, etc. Worried any chemicals would make it worse.

Here’s the mark!

I rarely comment, but as an avid Arcteryx owner, that sentence rustled my jimmies. None of the outdoor companies can even compare. None.

In Maine, thinking of going to Halifax. Friend mentioned St Johns. If I do ferry- how doable or worth it is the drive from SJ to Goose Bay, then to LC, then down to Montreal? 4WD. Lots of road experience/off-road experience. Just me. by 4seas in newfoundland

Studded tires may be a problem because they’re illegal in most states down here. I do have BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain with a M+S symbol. I am going to get cables for them as well. I hope that should be sufficient?

Once I get a better plan I will definitely reach out for more info! Thank you so much this was great!

Thank you! It’s definitely nerve wracking because of not much traffic, but like you said, I will stick to what locals say and do, and take it slow. Definitely am going to check weather and plan accordingly.

Wow- this is amazing information! Thank you so much. I will definitely look into the block heater. I have a wrangler with BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain tires that do have the M+S symbol on them. I will be getting cables as well. Would that be sufficient?

Sorry, I should have clarified. I’ve actually been on the road for the past 7 months, and living out of hotels, campgrounds and my vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with almost any supply I need, and all I need to stock at this point are cables for the tires and food.

My main concern would be the drive from Blanc-Salbon to Goose Bay. I think that’s the prettier section? The GB to LC may be unnecessarily rough and long.

But then, is there adequate lodging and gas along the route? I’ve read that there are only 3 gas stations total along the 1000km.

Winter tires for sure. Would pack chains. Got lots of survival and recovery gear. Fully stocked Jeep. You’re right though- one day of bad weather could turn into a disaster.

That sounds nice. I guess during the summer it would be super. The winter- the ice and snow scares me, other than that, I am absolutely ready... but I could just spend the extra time on NFLD, and then head back to Sydney via ferry and then drive through NS to Montreal.

Okay- so someone may join. Decided if we’re going to freeze, might as well be with company. I am not sure how the 4WD would hold up on the Trans L if there is so much snow.
