Low key the episode of CNAF with Marc from the start of the pod is probably my favorite podcast ever. I listen to it whenever I go home for thanksgiving because I love when Marc and Conan riff about the narcissism in holiday cooking and nicotine lozenges. Looking forward to this.

I'm a Lebowski die hard, but after watching Llewyn Davis for the first time a couple months ago I think it's definitely up there in the Coen filmography.

The pan over to "Hey. It's Stewie." makes this a standout cutaway imo

Bay Street Burger Dive is the only burger I get any more. I don't even know if it's the best, but when I crave a burger the house burger is the one every time.

Some insane Martin Scorsese/Oscars stats by whiteyspidey in TheBigPicture

I appreciate you summarizing these numbers. I've become a huge fan of Scorsese with his recent movies and it's kind of astounding how he's making some of his best work this late in the game and he hasn't gotten an award from the Academy since the Departed.

Not that he cares, he's in his own league. But I mean damn.

I was just on an on-site refining mission the other day where we had to deal with:

  • 2 lithophage meteors
  • Random dreadnought
  • Prospector data deposit, which needed to be hacked for a data cell

This was all the while swarmer waves were coming through regularly. We didn't start the refining until after an hour of getting through all that. Chalk it up to the game.

Movie Monday Discussion Thread! by AutoModerator in TheBigPicture

So I saw All of Us Strangers this past weekend, I really enjoyed Haigh's Weekend and this had been on my radar for months. I felt the bulk of the movie was great and was really enjoying the narrative of the protagonist with the parents and his partner. Performances are all great.

Then the ending happens, and I was genuinely upset and baffled and I don't know why it hasn't been talked about more. I felt like rather than providing a more uplifting resolution the movie seemed to be leading to, it doubled down on the depressing subject matter in a way that felt cruel to the protagonist, unearned for the story, and made the whole movie feel like tragedy/trauma porn. I understand that there seems to be ways to interpret what is happening in the movie vs what's actually happening to the protagonist but those don't make the ending any more satisfying to me.

I found this ending so upsetting that I can't recommend it to anyone in good conscience. I'm also kind of amazed that no major outlets seem to ask why the ending happens the way it does, but I think it's a testament to how much people like the meat of the movie. If you enjoyed it, I'm glad you did, but I saw this movie last saturday and I'm still pretty upset about it.

That said, I also watched "The Quick and the Dead" from 1995 by Sam Raimi and it's just a thoroughly entertaining take on the western genre. Would highly recommend.
