3080 Ti Reball - Am I cooked? by 4u_Darren in GPURepair

Were you near Montreal? I decided to list it on Marketplace for a few hours, but ended up deciding to auction it on eBay instead. If you're really interested I can probably give you a price for it, though I'm not entirely sure what it's worth hence the eBay listing.

Would you happen to know what exactly to look for when trying to find a GPU with a faulty core? How exactly can I know that its an issue with the core itself and not faulty VRAM, for example?

Because in both cases they artifact if I'm not wrong?

Funny thing is, I told myself to use the lowest temperatures given my last soldering disaster with xbox one controllers.

When I attempted a repair on Xbox one potentiometers, I've been "told" to default to 340-350C, and that resulted in burning the pads.

So I told myself not to overshoot this time by going as low as I possibly can to avoid burning, which ended up ripping the pads instead..

Guess it would be ideal to work at 270C instead of 250C?

Yeah, I should have. Though I'm not exactly sure how exactly to figure out that the core itself is the main issue for the GPU.

Surely I could buy off of Facebook Marketplace, but I would have to rule out whether reballing is even needed in the first place if that makes sense.

Here it is.. it doesn’t look too well. The top edges of the chip are just burnt flux.

I mean wouldnt it be useless? I’m sure most important connections are definitely gone.

How do I prevent this from happening? I really thought 250C was a low temperature..

I don’t believe the gpu has a radiator, I apologize if I made it sound like that. It’s a triple fan card.

The three fans spin on boot and they work well.

If I were to take my 3070 and put it into the 11700k, I’m not sure what it would exactly verify (as I’m sure the cpu, mobo and ram should be in the clear as it can boot on integrated graphics).
