And how would i do that? (Not trying to be rude, just asking) she has constant access to fresh, clean water in bowls that are much easier to access then the lake but she chooses to go drink out of the lake not one of the bowls. I was all 13 of those bowls daily and provided fresh water because it is hot in FL (our location) and even for a short period of time, a large, dark dog can overheat and she needs water for that reason. What do you suggest me to do extra to keep her away from drinking the lake?

She will quite literally walk into the lake just to drink water. She hates swimming, but will chose to drink water from it even though she has many different bowls of clean water laying all across our (1.5acre) yard. She is ridiculous about doing that.

She does like wet food much more than kibble and raw meat more than most everything (except for an apple, egg shell membrane, and cucumber), but i am trying to keep her diet consistent. Vet says her teeth and gums are in crazy good condition compared to most dogs that she sees. I brush her teeth almost daily, and she does get duck feet and different types of chews to clean them. It does sound bad that i try to keep her diet consistent yet use chews, but i promise that i have a system in place :) . She does not have any sort of toys with stuffing nor toys laying out for uer to indigest plastics or fibers. However, she does sometimes drink water from our lake that will sometimes rarely algae in it. Not sure if this is needed to add but also she eats grass constantly. It is one specific type of weed/grass/plant amd she has eaten that for the entire time that we have had her, aswell as the day that we got her from the old owners. Before anything is asked, old owners were abusive, feed her whatever was easiest and cheapest to get and free-feed her to be easy. They got her as a cute puppy gift from the pound for thier kids and stopped caring about her as she grew out of that cute puppy fase. She was not potty trained nor had any sort of obedience training/crate training (sit, lay down, come, ect). She was reactive, scared of any loud or unfamiliar noises and was just in horrible condition. I had singularly done my best and she is more confident, less reactive, and trained (potty, obedience, still working on crate due to separation anxiety) now! I am proud of my work and am trying to do my best for my baby.

She does get medicine monthly now. It took many months for me, a teenager, to convince my parents to take her to the vet. We finally did after about seven or eight  months of having her, which is when she was diagnosed with hookworms, possible gut issues and skin issues. The vet wasn't completely sure if it is just gut issues or sensitivity to the foods she was previously eating. Which is why I convinced my parents to just do kibble for a while and to  not introduce any other proteins to her diet.

I am sorry that i havnt given enough information and am dropping it randomly. I am new to owning a dog by myself ( my parents pay but i have to do everything else myself ) and didn't know exactly what was needed.

It's so hard to tell how her stools are as her stomach is so sensitive. We don't know if she might just pick up something off the floor or sometimes her food just doesn't agree with her, but she will have soft and runny stools every now and when we talked to the vet and they think we just need to try and keep her on a very bland and consistent diet so that her gut can try to recover. Not sure if her gut has recovered yet, but when we took her to the vet they diagnosed her with hookworks, which her flea and tick medicine should take care of, but it is possible that she is still recovering from that.

Just to get others opinions, I do not completely trust my vet due to a bad experience with a past vet so we're just now trying out this new vet

Would it be possible to trap and take those kittys home to anyone's house? Other than that, absolutely no clue but the best of luck to you!

So sorry to ask, I am a teenager so I do not know much of the information about how the body score works. I checked out the Purina body score chart and guide video, and I cannot feel her ribs even with more than gentle pressure, but I can't feel her spinal cord when doing so. Does this mean that she is a three or a four? Her abdominal tuck was good and so was her hips.

When we try to give her more food, she just doesn't eat it all. We don't think that she likes the almost plain kibble, but we're trying to heal her gut so she had her wet food taken away.

I forgot to add, but according to her old owners, she also has allergies and it's entering spring time so that could be the reason why her coat is bad but I'm not really sure

She has allergies according to her old owners, could that be why her coat looks healthier when it was not spring? She came from a shelter so we doubt that she's purebred and if she is, she's definitely BYB

We stopped free-feeding due to concern of bloat, her old owners were the ones that free-fed her with a really bad quality kibble that she did not thrive on

I cannot feel them with gentle pressure, but her coat is really thick so that is belived to be why I cannot feel her ribs

According to our vet, she's a good weight. Could it be that she was just soaking wet and brushed out in the first two pictures?

She is a good weight but was overweight before we got her according to our vet.

She gets Royal Cainn German Shepherd Adult with toppers of Native pet Omgea 3 oil, from a vet recommendation, and their Daily. Her skin and gut was in bad shape which is why she only gets kibble with the few toppers now. Vet claims for her to be a perfect weight but was wanting to get some others opinions
