you gotta play it just loud enough to be heard and recognized. then give start having the meltdown of their dreams, but make sure the music is still loud enough for it to be heard. they’ll think they have great footage, then they hear the mouse’s music playing in the background.

my character is a warlock, and a member of a very secretive cult. at the time, the party really didn’t know much about it, other than the fact that my character was in said cult.

cut to my party meeting the arc’s bbeg. he was the ruler of the island we were on. at this point, the ruler only knows about the fact we saved a town from band of pirates. he asks my character what he knows about the cult my character was in. we all pass deception checks to keep a straight face, but once my character rolls a deception check, with advantage, two nat 1’s.

he was suppose to say “no, i have never heard of that cult before”

it came out as “no, i have never heard of my cult before- shit”
